If you want to cross Delancey Street you won't be driving over the Williamburg Bridge anytime soon; it's under construction. Picture of the Williamsburg Bridge top left with the subway on the tracks.
Once you do get to Delancey Street you are in for a smorgasbord of stores and restaurants that cater to the diversified ethnic residents of the Lower East Side.
Top right you see Delancey Street which is known for bargain shopping. You see the Williamsburg Bridge in the distance.
Center right you see Guss' Pickles which is actually located at 35 Essex Street, around the corner from Delancey. Guss' Pickles is a Lower East Side landmark and they are doing a booming business. You walk up to the pickle barrel outside on the sidewalk and buy yourself a great delicious treat "to go".
Bottom right is another legend of the Lower East Side. Ratner's a kosher dairy restaurant. The back room known as Lansky Lounge is named for mobster Meyer Lansky a former area resident. Click here for the next page on today's photo tour.
