Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday December 24th 2004 Tiffany watched as her roommate Deanna walked out of the front door of her apartment overlooking Bleecker Street. Tiffany glanced at the envelope that Deanna gave her before leaving for work. Deanna had made her promise not to open it until she was gone. Tiffany reached for the envelope just as the phone rang. She picked up the phone from the coffee table. "Hello," she answered. "Hi Tiffany. Stanley and I just finished decorating our Christmas tree. I thought maybe you would like to come over for a drink," her sister Starlene said. "No thanks honey." "Oh come on over. I told Stanley that you were having a hard time. He totally understands how having a stripper for a roommate would be horrible." "It's okay." "Did Deanna finally come back from Skeeter's apartment?" Starlene asked as she watched her new husband walk into the other room. "Yeah, she came back." "Did you ask her if there was anything going on between her and Skeeter?" "She acted like there isn't anything going on. She talked about Vinny," Tiffany said referring to Starlene's one time lover. "Oh. Gee, that never makes me feel good. I don't know why I can't stop being jealous of the two of them," Starlene whispered to be sure that Stanley wouldn't hear her. "She gave me an envelope and told me not to open it until she left," Tiffany said eyeing the envelope. "Have you opened it?" "No, she just left." "Well what are you waiting for?" "Hold on," Tiffany said putting the phone down and opening the envelope. Starlene listened to the sound of paper ripping and then she heard Tiffany loudly gasp for breath. "What? What is it Tiffany?" Starlene called out. Tiffany picked the phone back up. "Well, I can't believe it!" Tiffany said her voice filled with surprise. "What? What? Tell me," Starlene demanded. "She gave me money Starlene." "Really? How much?" "Lots of money," Tiffany said. "Really? Wow?" "There's a note too," Tiffany said as she unfolded the paper with her spare hand. "Read it," Starlene said. "It says... This is a little Christmas gift for my new sister Tiffany. I hope you'll enjoy shopping. There's plenty more where this came from. Don't worry about a job. We've got each other now. I'm so happy to have family for the first time in my life. Love, Deanna," Tiffany read out loud. "Get out of here!" Starlene said. "Can you believe it?" Tiffany said. "Well, how much money did she give you Tiffany?" "It looks like over three thousand dollars in hundred dollar bills," Tiffany said as she spread the money on her coffee table. "I guess you aren't going to ask her to move out now?" "Well, how can I?" "Gee Tiffany. Maybe she's not so bad after all." "Somebody is at the door," Tiffany said when she heard a loud knock on the door. "Don't let them see the money. You might get robbed," Starlene said. "Hold on," Tiffany said putting the phone on her shoulder. "Who is it?" she called out. "It's me Baby," Skeeter called out. "It's Skeeter," Tiffany said as she gathered the money in her spare hand. "Have a Merry Christmas Tiffany. Stanley's taking me somewhere special later tonight," Starlene said. "I hope you and Stanley have a great first Christmas as a married couple. Do you know where he's taking you?" "No, he won't tell me. Tiffany do you know where did Deanna went tonight?" Starlene asked. "She went to work, I guess. Gee. I feel bad now. I was going to throw her out and she gave me all of this money. I don't even know what she's doing for Christmas," she said as Skeeter pounded on the door again. CONTINUED MONDAY.
