1 beef chuck steak, cut 1 inch thick, 1 1/2 to 2 pounds
1 small onion, chopped
1 14 ounce can Italian peeled tomatoes, drained and chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano or 1 teaspoon dried
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch of hot pepper flakes
2 tablespoons olive oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Trim off excess fat from steak.  Put the steak in a shallow glass baking dish with plenty of space.  In a medium bowl, combine the tomatoes, onion, oregano, garlic, salt, hot pepper flakes, and olive oil.  Spread over the top of the steak.  Bake uncovered 45 minutes to 1 hour, until tender. Slice steak and serve with tomato sauce from the pan.  Serves 4 to 6.
