Top right you see Fraunces Tavern at 54 Pearl Street. ( 212-968-1776 ) It was built in 1719 and the house became a tavern in 1763. Governor George Clinton gave a dinner here, celebrating the British evacuation of NY in 1783, and in December of the same year George Washington came here to say farewell to his officers. When the attack of 9/11 happened the tavern had been already closed, but re-opened soon afterwards since the owner felt during these historical times the tavern should be open. A great place to dine; you can say you were there during this period in history.
Center right picture you see Federal Hall National Memorial. This beautiful building served as the country's first capitol and George Washington spent time here too. You see his statue in the center of the stairs.
