"As we graze it grows"

4 ounces semisweet chocolate, broken into squares
3 tablespoons milk
2/3 cup unsalted butter or margarine, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 3/4 cups self rising flour
For the Buttercream
6 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar and cocoa powder, for dusting

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Grease two 7 inch round cake pans and line the bottom of each with waxed paper. Melt the chocolate with the milk in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water.  Cream the butter with the sugar in a mixing bowl until pale and fluffy.  Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the chocolate mixture until it is well combined. Sift the flour and cocoa over the mixture and fold in with a metal spoon until evenly mixed.  Scrape into the prepared pans, smooth to level and bake for 35-40 minutes or until well risen and firm. Turn out on wire racks and let cool.  To make the buttercream beat the butter, confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla extract together in a bowl until the mixture is smooth. Sandwich the cake layers together with the buttercream. Dust with a mixture of confectioners' sugar and cocoa before serving.  Serves 6 to 8.
