Harlem has two parts. East of Fifth Avenue is known as Spanish Harlem or "El Barrio", which is primarily a Puerto Rican section of town. To the west, north of St. Nicholas Avenue and 125th Street is central Harlem.
On this page you see examples of the beautiful homes of Harlem. The photo to the center was taken in the section known as Sugar Hill. This is the area that was home to Duke Ellington.
