People talk about "the village" in New York City and it can be confusing. We have Greenwich Village, the West Village and the East Village.
Top left picture you see Washington Square Park which is in Greenwich Village or the West Village. Behind the arches of Washington Square Park is Fifth Avenue which divides the city east and west. Years ago traffic drove through the park. Today only horses and police drive in Washington Square Park.
Top right picture you see a corner of Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. This is the famous street for nightclubs and coffee shops.
Center right picture you see Washington Mews which is located across from Washington Square Park. This cobblestone street was built in the early 1900's when there were stables and gas lights.
Bottom right picture you see Grace Church on Broadway. This is east of Greenwich Village and you are now ready to go to the East Village. Click here for pictures of the East Village in NYC.
