Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday May 31st 2005 Starlene jumped when the telephone rang in the living room of the Upper East Side mansion where she lives with her husband Stanley. "Hello", she answered. "Starlene, Jake just left," her sister Tiffany said in a hushed voice from Jake's Modeling Agency in the Empire State Building where she works as a secretary. "What happened Tiffany? I heard Skeeter at your apartment door this morning when I called," Starlene said as she leaned back on the sofa. "Yeah, Skeeter came home last night. I'm so lucky he didn't see Jake coming and going into my apartment." "Man I guess the glow is gone from Jake after Skeeter knocked on your door." "Oh yeah. I'm scared. He knows I'm up to something. I've never done anything to give him any reason to be jealous... until now." "I'm worried Tiffany. You can't live next door to Skeeter and see Jake. Somebody will get killed for sure." "I know. Jake could tell something was wrong with me. He called right after Skeeter left the apartment this morning. I was so nervous I could barely talk. I think Jake knows something is up." "Maybe you should tell him. I mean if Skeeter gets mad enough he might come after Jake. Maybe you should warn Jake." "I thought about that. But I'm afraid it will scare him off." "Oh, I bet he'll understand." "I don't know Starlene. I can tell he was a little hesitant to become intimate. He kept saying things like 'I don't want this to mess up our lives.'" "So what are you going to do?" "I don't know. I really don't know. I guess I'll have to go to Jake's if we get together again." "If you get together again; are you considering not seeing him again?" "Yeah. It might be too dangerous. I feel guilty too. I've never lied to Skeeter before. I still love Skeeter in a way," she said shaking her head as she listened to her own admission. "You're crazy if you let a guy like Jake go. I mean it Tiffany. You've waited on Skeeter for years now. When you had all of that trouble with your roommates and needed to stay at his place, remember what he said?" Starlene asked. "Yeah. I remember. I know. He won't commit even to a live in." "See? You have to drop Skeeter once and for all." "I'm trying. You see it isn't that easy for me though." "I know. Look just be really careful. Go to a hotel with Jake. Don't take any chances but don't drop Jake for Skeeter. Don't do that Tiffany." "I'll see. I want to be with Jake. I really loved last night with him. He's just wonderful," she said as she remembered the intimacy they had shared. "I bet. He's so good looking. I wonder what Nina will think when she finds out about you and Jake," Starlene said referring to Jake's top model. "I can't believe your timing Starlene," Tiffany whispered. "What?" "I see Nina getting off the elevator now," she said as she watched through the glass windows as the leggy model walked towards Jake's office. "Oh great. Just what you needed today," Starlene said. "I might as well get it all over with at the same time," Tiffany said. "I'll call you later," she said as she hung up the phone. "Hi Nina," Tiffany said as the model walked into the lobby of Jake's office. "Hello. I come to surprise Jake," she said in broken English as she took an envelope from her purse. "You not tell him if I show you this?" she asked handing Tiffany the envelope. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
