Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday May 30th 2005 Tiffany walked towards the entrance of her Bleecker Street apartment after hearing a knock on the door. She held her phone on her shoulder as she finished her conversation with her sister Starlene about her intimacy with her new boss Jake last night. "For some reason I thought Jake might come back before he goes into the office. I bet Jake will be worn out today after what we did last night," Tiffany said as she opened the front door. "Skeeter!" she said her voice filled with alarm. "Hey Baby," Skeeter's smiled faded and his eyes narrowed when he saw she was wearing the flimsy sheer nightgown he'd given her. "Is it Skeeter at the door Tiffany?" her sister Starlene asked eagerly clutching her phone as she paced the living room of her Upper East Side mansion. "I have to call you back Starlene," Tiffany said. "You call me if he gets angry," Starlene said remembering her ex-brother-in-laws quick temper. She heard the click as Tiffany hung up. "So Tiffany. What have you been up too?" Skeeter asked stepping inside her apartment as she closed the door and placed the phone on the table. "Nothing much. How was your trip to Atlanta?" "The trade show was good. But I think you might have been having all the fun," he said pulling the strap on her nightgown. "I just pulled this out to wear," she said not having any idea what to say. "Huh-uh. I just bet that's all there is to this," he said walking around the coffee table looking for signs of a romantic evening. "Have a seat," she said taking a seat on the sofa hoping he wouldn't walk to her bedroom door. "How nice for you to invite me to have a seat," he said sitting down on the sofa. "So it looks like you haven't been sitting around alone. Who have you been with Tiffany?" "I haven't done anything." "You're lying to me," he said grabbing her arm. "Let my arm go Skeeter," she said pulling away from him and scooting over on the sofa. "Look Tiffany. I know you. I've asked you to model that nightgown for me a hundred times. You always tell me you don't want to. Somebody's been here," he said getting up from the sofa and walking towards her bedroom. "Look at this", he said as he pushed her bedroom door open with his foot. He pointed towards the bed sheets hanging off the bed and onto the floor. "I was getting ready to change the sheets." "Tiffany you're lying to me!" he screamed. "No, I'm not Skeeter," she pleaded. "I'm going to be watching you. I'll find out who you've been with," he said as he walked towards the front door to leave. "It's not the way it looks Skeeter," she said getting up and walking towards the front door. He stopped in the doorway and turned with a cold stare. "It's exactly as it looks Tiffany. You've got yourself another man. Is it that Jake you work for?" he asked through narrowed eyes. "No," she lied. "It better not be. If I catch that guy anywhere near you it will be the last time," he said as he turned and raced down the stairs. She heard him hit the front door so hard it slammed into the wall. Tiffany closed the front door of her apartment and leaned against it. She felt her whole body trembling. The phone rang and she reached for it on the table nearby. "Hello," she said weakly. "Tiffany, what's wrong honey?" Jake asked as he walked into Carnegie Deli with his cell phone. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
