Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday May 6th 2005 Stanley watched as the waiter finished writing down the lunch order then walked towards the back of the small Italian restaurant. "So Jake, tell me all about yourself," Stanley asked as he watched the young man unfold his napkin and place it on his lap. "I'm sure I would only bore you. I'm honored that a busy man like you would ask me to lunch," Jake said remembering how Stanley's limo had been at the curb waiting for them today. "No. I really would like to know more about you. I mean a man like you must really meet some very interesting people," Stanley said raising his eyebrows as he remembered the leggy models he'd seen coming and going at Jake's model agency across the hallway. "I do meet a lot of women if that's what you mean." "Of course that's what I mean!" Stanley said laughing. "Yes, I guess it would seem impressive to people on the outside." "Very impressive. I've seen the ladies that come into your office and I don't know if I'd be able to control myself." "It all becomes very much a job." "Oh come on, my man. Surely you mix a little pleasure with all that business," Stanley said as he took a sip of his designer water in the crystal glass on the table. "It could be very tempting," he said grinning. "The pressure might kill an old man like me. But you're probably married, aren't you?" Stanley asked. "No. I'm not married. I've never been married." "You're a lucky man." "I want to get married one day." "Take your time young man. Take your time. It's a lifetime commitment." "How long have you and Starlene been married?" Jake asked thinking about the risqué photos that Starlene gave him this morning hoping to be cast by his agency. "Oh a long time now. Seems like forever," Stanley said as he watched the waiter place salads on the table in front of the men. "Starlene is a very impressive young woman," Jake said as he watched Stanley stab a cherry tomato with his fork. "My little Georgia Peach. That's what I call her." "You could probably give me some advice," Jake said as he buttered a slice of bread. "What's that?" "Is it difficult having a wife that… you know," Jake said taking a bite of his bread. "You mean good looking like Starlene?" "Yes." "It was at first. I mean I'm older and I wondered if a beautiful young woman like that would really stay." "But you feel secure in the relationship now?" "I married her." "I know. But I mean do you feel secure with her modeling," Jake asked thinking about Starlene's suggestive poses. "You mean the Playbody shots she did?" "Yes." "Did you see them?" "No, I don't subscribe. I only saw the ones she dropped by my office this morning." "My Starlene dropped by pictures?" Stanley asked as his fork dropped on his plate. CONTINUED MONDAY.
