Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday May 3rd 2005 "What are you going to do?" Tiffany asked as she jumped up from the sofa and followed her sister towards the front door of her Bleecker Street apartment. "I'm going to find out if Jake has a girlfriend," Starlene said referring to Tiffany's new boss. "How?" Tiffany asked as they stopped in front of the living room door. "I'll get Stanley to ask Jake to lunch," Starlene said referring to her wealthy older husband that has an office across the hallway from Jake's in the Empire State Building. "That's not a bad idea!" "Of course, I thought of it," Starlene said smiling broadly as she opened the front door and stepped out into the hallway. "Just be sure that Stanley doesn't let on that I'm interested in Jake." "I'll handle it Tiffany. Don't worry. After Stanley goes to lunch with Jake we'll know everything about him. I bet my Stanley will even find out how much money Jake's got in his bank account," she boasted. "I want to know about Nina. That's what bothers me the most. I want to know if Jake is having a relationship with her," Tiffany said referring to the beautiful model that had stopped by Jake's casting agency the other day. "I'll get Stanley to ask about Nina too." "When do you think Stanley will ask Jake to lunch?" "Tomorrow morning. I'll get him to stop by Jake's office tomorrow morning. I'll call you later," Starlene said as she turned to leave. "Thanks Starlene," Tiffany called out as she watched her sister walk down the stairs. "Tiffany I'll have you and Jake married in no time," Starlene called out as she reached the ground floor. Tiffany turned to go back into her apartment when her ex-husband and neighbor Skeeter opened his apartment door. "What's going on out here?" Skeeter asked frowning as he stood in his front door with a beer can in his hand. "Hi," Tiffany said smiling as she hoped he hadn't overheard the conversation about Jake. "What's going on?" "Starlene just left." "I thought I heard her. Why didn't she knock on my door? I'd like to have seen her." "She was in a hurry. She was on her way downtown to Century 21," Tiffany said watching him closely for clues to how much of her conversation he heard. "How's the job going?" "It's okay," she said glancing down at her shoes to avoid his eyes. "You ain't got something going with Jake have you?" "Of course not Skeeter," she said stepping back into her living room as if she were going to close the door. "You got a thing for that guy?" "No Skeeter." "You better not. Do you hear me?" he asked stepping forward and grabbing her arm. "Yes," she said pulling her arm away. "I don't want any trouble." "What does that mean Skeeter?" "We've been getting along better for a while now. I don't want some fast talking casting agent taking my woman." "Your woman?" "Aren't you?" "You didn't want me to move in with you a few weeks ago when I had problems with my roommates," she said remembering her depressed pleas for help. "What does that mean?" he asked through narrowed eyes. "I didn't think you wanted to commit to me again Skeeter," she said her voice inflecting more of a question than a statement. "I said I hope there won't be any problems with this Jake. I think you've known me long enough to know what I mean," he said stepping back into his apartment and abruptly closing the door. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
