Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday April 25th 2005 Tiffany pulled her nightshirt over her head as she heard a knock on the front door of her Bleecker Street apartment. She quickly walked out of her bedroom and towards the front door. "Who is it?" she called out as she heard her ex-husband's voice in the hallway. "It's me," Skeeter said. "Hi," Tiffany said as she unlocked and opened the door. "Hey Baby. How's it going?" he asked as he walked into the living room and she closed the door behind him. "Good. I got a job," she said smiling. "Well! We have to celebrate," he said as he walked to her sofa and took a seat. He motioned for her to come sit beside him. "I can't celebrate tonight. I start tomorrow morning." she said as she sat down beside him. "Congratulations Baby. That's wonderful. Where did you find this job?" "When I was filling in for Stanley's secretary. This new guy moved in across the hall from Stanley's office in the Empire State Building." "So how did that all come about?" "Stanley's secretary heard that he might have a job opening. So Stanley went over and talked to him. He said he did have an opening. Stanley told him about me. And now I have a job," she said leaving out the dinner she and Jake shared when she interviewed for the position. "That's great baby. What kinda business does this dude have?" "A casting agency. He has his own casting and modeling agency," she said. "Really? Wow. You know I might come in and see if he needs somebody that looks like me," Skeeter said sticking out his chest and grinning at her. "Yeah. I bet," she said laughing at him. "So what are you going to do for him?" "Receptionist. His office is right across the hall from Stanley's office too," she said referring to her sister's wealthy older husband. "That's great Baby. That's really great. So what's this guy like?" "He's okay. He seems nice enough," she said avoiding his eyes for fear he would notice that she felt an attraction for Jake. "I'm glad. That's good news baby," he said patting her on the back. "Thanks Skeeter. Well, I'm sorry but I need to get my sleep tonight," she said standing up so that he would leave. "You don't want get a little exercise? You know baby," he said nodding towards her bedroom. "No, I have to get my sleep tonight Skeeter," she repeated as he got up from the sofa and kissed her on the cheek. "Good luck baby," he said starting towards the door to leave. "Thanks Skeeter," she said as she followed him to the door. He unlocked the door and opened it before turning to look at her. "I don't have to worry about this guy and you on a casting couch, do I?" he asked through narrowed eyes. "No," she said shaking her head and grinning as she thought of the pretty red sofa in the lobby of the new office where she would be working. "You sure about that?" he asked noticing she avoided his eyes. "Yes Skeeter," she said. "Good. I wouldn't want to have any problems with this guy. What's his name?" "Jake," she said almost in a dreamy whisper. "Jake," he mocked as if imitating her. "He already sounds like trouble to me," he said never smiling as he turned to leave. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
