Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday April 15th 2005
Stanley pushed open the glass doors to his office in the Empire State Building.
"Where's Cindy?" he asked referring to his secretary that was in the office when he left to go across the hall and meet the new tenant.
"She had to leave it was time for her to go home and feed the baby," Tiffany said.
"She is coming back to work tomorrow, right?" Stanley asked referring to the fact the secretary had been on maternity leave and Tiffany had been filling in for her.
"Yeah, she's excited about coming back. What was the new tenant like?" Tiffany asked as she glanced through the glass window across the hallway at the cute new tenant.
"He's nice Tiffany.  He said he is looking for a receptionist," Stanley said smiling.
"Oh, did you tell him about me?"
"Yes, he wants you to stop by this afternoon and meet him."
"Oh my gosh!  So he really does have a job opening?"
"It sounds that way."
"What kind of work does he do?"
"I didn't get to ask him.  He got a phone call and I just walked out and left. We mostly talked about the building and getting him moved in."
"I see a nice looking sofa going into his office," Tiffany said as she watched the moving men take a sleek red sofa through the door into the office across the hall.
"Look at the time," Stanley said glancing at his watch. "I have to run. I have an appointment uptown.  Good luck this afternoon Tiffany.  I hope you'll be working across the hall soon," Stanley said grabbing his briefcase and starting towards the front door of his office.
"Thanks for everything Stanley.  I hope your wish comes true," Tiffany said as she watched him leave.  She sat at her desk watching as the red sofa was being pushed around in the new office across the hallway. She saw the new tenant pointing to the movers as to where he wanted the sofa placed.  The moving men pushed the sofa to the wall and turned and walked out. She watched as the new tenant glanced around the lobby of his new office and then he suddenly  glanced up through the window and directly into Tiffany's eyes. She looked down quickly hoping he wouldn't notice that she had been watching him.  It was too late, he walked out into the hallway and knocked on Stanley's front door.
"Come in," she called out as the door opened.
"Hi!  I hope I'm not bothering you," he said smiling broadly.
"No, not at all," Tiffany said smiling as she realized he was even better looking in person.
"Mr. Morgan came by my office and told me that you were looking for a job," he said as he stood in front of her desk.
"Yes, Stanley told me that you wanted me to stop by after work today," she said.
"I did, but I have a little problem with that now," he said as he thoughtfully ran his fingers through his hair.
"Oh that's okay, if this isn't a good time," Tiffany said.
"I'm really sorry, but it seems I have to leave earlier than I had expected.  Could we talk another time?"
"Well, sure, but I won't be working here anymore after today.  Stanley's secretary will be back tomorrow."
"I know he told me she's been on maternity leave."
"Yeah, that's right," Tiffany said.
"I do apologize.  I would love to talk to you.  I wondered if maybe you could have dinner?"
"Dinner?"
"It's the least I can do after having to cancel our meeting today. I hope you will allow me to buy you dinner so we can talk?"
