Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday April 7th 2005
Starlene tossed her hairstyle magazine on the floor of the Upper East Side mansion and picked up the ringing telephone. "Hello," she answered.
"Starlene!" Tiffany said.
"What? Did you talk to Deanna to see if she liked the apartment?"
"Yes, I talked to her alright," Tiffany said as disgust filled her voice.
"So is she going to take it?"
"I don't know. She said she didn't want to pay that much rent."
"Oh no."
"That's not the part that bothers me."
"What are you talking about?"
"When I called, Deanna answered the phone. I asked her why she was answering Victor's phone and she said he was in the shower."
"No!"
"Yes, I think she did it with him," Tiffany said referring to the real estate agent that Starlene's wealthy husband Stanley had fixed Tiffany up with only a few days ago.
"I'll be," Starlene said in her southern accent.
"Yeah, they're on the way back. I hear her at the door now. I'll call you later," Tiffany said hanging up the phone. She glanced up to see Deanna and Victor coming into the apartment together.
"Hi," Tiffany said as she watched Deanna close the door and Victor followed her inside.
"So did you like it?" Tiffany asked.
"Oh yeah. I liked the apartment. Big Daddy here is going to see if he can get the rent lowered a little," Deanna said turning to grin at Victor.
"I think we can arrange something," Victor said. "I have to go uptown and show another apartment. Call me and let me know what you decide," he said to Deanna.
"Okay honey. Thanks for everything," she said smiling as he turned and walked out into the hallway.
Deanna closed the door and walked back into the living room. "It was a great apartment," she said as she took a seat in a nearby chair.
"Then take it."
"I want him to get the rent reduced."
"Did he say he might be able to do that?"
"Yeah."
"Deanna, when I called, Victor was in the shower at the apartment you were looking at. Did the two of you? You know."
"Sure."
"Why? You just met him."
"Why not?"
"Well, for one thing I just met Victor and he seemed interested in me," Tiffany said as she watched her stripper roommate closely.
"Well I asked him if the two of you were an item."
"You did?"
"Yeah, he said you didn't seem to like him that much."
"That's because I wouldn't go to bed with him the minute I met him."
"Well, I did."
"What about Vinny?" Tiffany asked referring to her roommate's Mafia boyfriend.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you and Vinny are a couple. Aren't you afraid Vinny will find out?"
