Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday March 30th 2005
The phone rang at the reception desk in Stanley's office in the Empire State Building. Tiffany pushed the blinking button and answered, "Mr. Morgan's office."
"Hey Tiffany. How's it going?" her sister Starlene asked.
"Okay I guess."
"Did Victor call you?"
"Yes."
"Great! I was afraid he would be mad at you for not letting him kiss you the other day after buying you an expensive lunch at Tavern on the Green restaurant."
"I told you he wouldn't give up that easily. He called last night while Skeeter was with me," Tiffany said.
"Oh no."
"Yeah. Skeeter and I were in the bedroom and it was hard to talk because Skeeter was listening. I kept saying 'me too, maybe, we'll see,' then Victor finally asked if I was with somebody."
"I hope you lied."
"No, I just said 'yes'."
"You shouldn't have done that Tiffany. I'm telling you this guy is a catch."
"I have a right to be with somebody. I didn't tell him he could call me at home. How did he get my number, from Stanley?" She asked referring to Starlene's wealthy husband.
"I guess so."
"I'm not ready for a relationship with Victor."
"I told Stanley that you said you might not be ready."
"What did he say?"
"He said that was a big mistake. He said that lots of women want to be with Victor. That if he takes a woman to lunch she surely has to go to bed with him."
"What?"
"That's what he said."
"Well, I didn't and I didn't let him kiss me either."
"Stanley said you should have kissed him at least."
"Too late now."
"So do you think he'll call you again?"
"I don't know and don't care."
"I can't believe you're blowing off a guy like Victor. I mean Skeeter doesn't have anything to offer you."
"I love Skeeter."
"You can learn to love somebody with money too."
"I don't think Victor is my type Starlene. I'm not attracted to him."
"Learn to be."
"How can I learn to be attracted to somebody?"
"Just do it and then maybe it will come naturally."
"I will not. If I don't feel an attraction to him then I would never do... you know."
"But you'll go out with him again?"
"I don't know. I mean I really am tied up with Skeeter," she said thinking about the intimacies that they shared last night in her bedroom.
"Okay, do whatever you want. Don't complain to me though when you get sick of Skeeter again. I've heard this for years now," Starlene said.
"Starlene, I'm not like you. I can't just fall in love for money."
"Oh, is that all you think I love my Stanley for?" she said her voice filled with pain.
