Chinatown is one of the most interesting and fast paced areas of NYC. Top right picture you see the Hong Kong Bank Building at 241 Canal Street. This red pagoda-style office building was imported from Taiwan.
Ask anyone and they'll tell you that shopping is what Chinatown is all about. Second picture you see a fish market and merchants selling produce on the sidewalk.

Most of the sidewalk vendors sell their merchandise in carts with wheels. Since many of the sidewalk merchants are selling illegal counterfeit merchandise they simply run with their wares when the cops come. It's a game of cat and mouse that has been going on for years.

Sixth picture you see was taken on Canal Street. Here you see a sample of the pretty cast-iron Buildings of Soho. Soho is a close neighbor but there's a world of difference in the atmosphere. Chinatown is about bargains and Soho is expensive $$$.
Another close neighbor of Chinatown is Little Italy. Little Italy is about food! All the streets are lined with wonderful Italian restaurants.
