Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday February 22nd 2005 "I'm glad your housekeeper is gone for the evening," Tiffany said as Stanley's housekeeper closed the front door and left. "You don't like her either?" Starlene asked as they leaned back on the plush sofa of Stanley's Upper East Side mansion. "No, she's nice. I'm just not used to having a housekeeper Starlene," Tiffany said glancing around at the elegant furnishings of her sister's wealthy husband. "It's nice having a housekeeper but I wish I could hire somebody that I liked," Starlene said. "Why?" "Then she'd work for me. I don't like it that Stanley's housekeeper has been around longer than I have." "You're not jealous of her?" Tiffany said shrugging her shoulders. "No, it's not that. It's just that I feel like she knows more about my Stanley's life than I do. She's known him for years. She was here when Jan was living in the house," she said referring to Stanley's older daughter. "You mean she's worked for him since Jan's mother died?" "I think so. She's seen it all. I just don't like that. I feel like she treats me as if I were a guest here sometime," Starlene said. "I want to fire her." "But you don't." "No. I told Stanley a thousand times I think I could hire somebody better. He always says 'no.'" "He likes her a lot?" Tiffany asked. "Oh yeah. I just hate it." "Starlene. If she's worked for Stanley a long time then she probably does know more about him than you do," Tiffany said thoughtfully. "I know! See what I mean? I don't like it." "But maybe she knows why Stanley is putting properties into Jan's name and not telling you about it," Tiffany said. "Maybe... I hadn't thought of that," Starlene admitted. "Maybe you should be nicer to her Starlene. Maybe she could tell you things about Stanley that you don't know." "Yeah, you might be right. I guess I'll start being a little nicer to her. I'll quit throwing my hairstyle magazines on the living room floor. I know that makes her mad." "She might be able to help you out a lot," Tiffany added. "Yeah. I will definitely be nicer to her. Maybe I'll even let her sit at the table with me one day when I have lunch alone." "You don't let her sit down with you?" "No. I'm the mistress of this house," Starlene said with an air of pride. "Well, you might be the mistress but you don't want to be living a mystery either, now do you? So be nice and see if she tells you some things about Stanley." "Okay. Now what about you? What are you going to do about Vinny wanting to move into your apartment with Double D Deanna?" she asked referring to her sister's roommate the dancer and her Mafia boyfriend. "I left them the note." "I know you wrote a note saying you were gone for the night and would let them know tomorrow. But what are you going to do about them tomorrow Tiffany?" CONTINUED TOMORROW.
