Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday January 25th 2005 "Hi, come on in", Tiffany said as the NYPD detective showed her his badge at the front door of her Bleecker Street apartment. "You want to report your roommate missing?" he asked as he unbuttoned his overcoat. "Yeah, I mean she's called a couple of times but she hasn't been home in weeks now." "Yes, you told me on the phone that she said she was out of town and wouldn't tell you when she was coming back. Is that right?" he asked glancing at his notepad he took out of his pocket. "Yes." "You said something about a box of money she has in her room." "Yes," she said as they heard a knock on the front door. "That's my partner. He had to park the car," the detective said as she opened the front door. "Hello, I'm Detective Wilson," the new guest said as he closed the door and walked into the living room. "Hello Mr. Wilson," Tiffany said. She glanced towards the first detective "I'm sorry I didn't catch your name?" "I'm Detective Shaw," the first man said. "So the money is in a box in the bedroom," Detective Shaw said. "Yes." "And you said that your roommate is a stripper?" Detective Shaw asked. "That's right." "How did you meet her? Do you work in the same club with her?" he said glancing at Tiffany's figure. "No. I'm unemployed. My ex-husband Skeeter rented the spare bedroom to her while my sister and I were in Georgia. I never would have rented it to a stripper," Tiffany said hoping to restore her dignity. "Do you get along with your roommate?" Detective Shaw asked as the other detective started to take notes. "Okay, yes." "Do you know any of your roommate's friends or people that work with her?" "No," Tiffany said as she watched the Detective write down her answer. "Well, I do know one friend of hers." "Who's that?" "She was seeing my ex-husband Skeeter's roommate Vinny for a while. I think they broke up though," Tiffany said hoping they wouldn't ask too many questions about Vinny since he worked for the Mafia. "So what kind of work does Vinny do?" "I think he works for some people in Florida. I really don't know. He travels there some," she said hoping that would be the last question about Vinny. "I see," the Detective said as they glanced at one another raising their eyebrows as if suspicious. "What about your ex-husband? What kind of work does he do?" "He owns the lingerie store downstairs," she said. "Next to Nothing?" Detective Shaw asked. "Yeah," Tiffany said feeling her face start to turn red when she realized they probably saw the sleazy costumes in the window when they came into the building. "Oh I know about that store," Detective Shaw said grinning. "Now where's the money?" he asked as both men looked at Tiffany. "In there," she said pointing to Deanna's bedroom. "We'll need to check out her room thoroughly." "Oh of course," Tiffany said. "Would you like some coffee or something," she asked as they walked towards Deanna's bedroom. "That would be great," Detective Shaw said as the other man opened the door to Deanna's bedroom. "We both like it light and sweet," he said as he walked into the bedroom and closed the door.
