Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday January 20th 2005 Skeeter took a long sip on his beer and crushed the can. He tossed it on the coffee table as the front door of his apartment opened and his roommate Mafia Vinny walked in. "Hey Dude," Skeeter said as he reached for the remote and turned down the volume on the TV. "When did you get home Skeeter?" Vinny asked as he walked into the living room and took a seat on the sofa beside him. "I just got here. I worked a little late. The store was really busy," he said referring to his lingerie store downstairs. "Oh yeah?" "Yeah, I put all the stuff on sale and it's been going great. The NYU students like bargains on lingerie. There were some hot looking chicks in there this afternoon. If Tiffany didn't live next door I could have brought one of them up here tonight," he said referring to his neighbor and ex-wife. "That is a inconvenience for you, ain't it?" Vinny asked in his thick Brooklyn accent. "Yeah. Maybe I can bring one of the girls up here one day and you could cover for me," Skeeter suggested. "Sure man. Whatever." "Where you been?" Skeeter asked. "Next door talking to Tiffany," Vinny confessed. "Oh really. I don't have anything to worry about do I?" he joked knowing that Tiffany and Vinny didn't get along. "No." "Why did you go over there, if you don't mind me asking?" "To see if I could find any clues as to why Deanna has disappeared," he said referring to his girlfriend the stripper and Tiffany's roommate. "Did you find anything?" "Yeah, you better believe I did," Vinny said wide-eyed. "What?" "A whole box of loot in the top of Deanna's closet." "You mean money?" "Yeah, and lots of it too. Couple hundred thousand in this box." "Wow! I bet Tiffany was surprised by that find!" "No, she knew it was there all along," Vinny said. "She never told me that." "She's nervous about the money. I tried to take it out of there but she's all upset. I just left it for now." "Where did Deanna get that kind of money?" "I don't know. Seems nobody knows the answer to that one. And nobody seems to know where Deanna is either," he said. "This is all strange," Skeeter said thoughtfully. "It looks like to me that Deanna is in some kind of racket that I didn't know nothing about," Vinny said as he twisted the gold chain on his neck. "I bet that makes you all PO'ed." "No what does make me mad is that she might be makin' better money than me right now." "You really think she made all this money?" "Well, I don't mean she waited tables for it or something like that. I mean she pulled a good one that I didn't know about." "What do you think?" "Maybe she is a woman-of-the-evening, so to speak." "That upsets you?" "Well, yeah. Dancing around and showing off is one thing. But this puts her into a whole new category. I can't be married to no woman in that profession," he said. "You wanted to marry her?" "I was getting serious. But it's off now. Just wait till I see her again," he said as his jaw tightened. "I think I'll go see what Tiffany knows," Skeeter said getting up from the sofa. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
