Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday January 14th 2005 Tiffany watched as Vinny poured himself another glass of Bourbon from the bottle on her coffee table. "You ain't suffering much here," Vinny said in his thick Brooklyn accent as he eyed her. "I'm okay," she said hoping he'd soon get so drunk he'd forget about his idea to search Deanna's room. "Where you getting the money to pay the rent Tiffany?" "I had some saved," she lied. "Skeeter told me you didn't have any money. He said he was worried about how you'd make it," he said before taking another sip of his Bourbon. "Skeeter doesn't know everything about me," she said referring to her ex-husband and lover who Vinny rooms with next door. "Oh I see. Then how are you making it?" "Vinny don't you think that's my business?" "I see! So you're getting all offended with me as usual." "No, it's just not what I want to talk about." "Okay. Then tell me about Deanna." "I don't know anything about Deanna Vinny. I suspect you know a lot more than I do." "It don't look like I do," he said in his thick Brooklyn accent. "I mean she dumped me and ran off. But she called you," he said watching her closely. "She didn't tell me anything though." "Did she tell you when she's coming home?" "Nope," Tiffany said realizing the Bourbon was going straight to her head. "Do you know if she's got another boyfriend?" "No, I wouldn't know." "Well, have any other men been calling here for her?" "Nope," Tiffany lied as she thought back on the strange man that called and said he might be a detective. "Never?" "Nope." "I went by the place that she works. They said she called them once. They said she asked how the renovations where going. They told her 'fine' and that her check was there. Then they asked if she was going to pick it up. She told them to hold on to it," Vinny said. "So?" "That don't sound right to me." "Well, what do you think Vinny?" "Maybe one of them men that comes in there has done something that made Deanna leave all of sudden," he said as his eyes narrowed. "I hadn't thought of that," Tiffany confessed. "But you tell me she called here the other day and she sounded fine," he said. "Yeah, she sounded fine," Tiffany said. "Then somebody is hiding something here." "I don't know Vinny," she said. "I'm going to look around in her room," he said getting up from the sofa and walking towards Deanna's bedroom. "I can't let you do that Vinny," she said jumping up and walking beside him. "And why not?" "Because Deanna and I are like sisters," she lied. "It would be wrong for me to let you go through her things while she isn't here." "Then go next door to Skeeter's and see him while I look through her stuff," he said opening the door to Deanna's bedroom. "No Vinny. I can't let you do this," she said rushing towards him.
