3 tablespoons ground almonds
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cardamom
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted
3/4 cup dairy sour cream
2/3 cup chopped raisins or currants
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons whipping cream or milk
2 tablespoons toasted sliced almonds

Generously grease an 8 inch fluted tube pan. Sprinkle the pan with ground almonds, set aside. In a bowl stir together the flour, cardamom, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, cloves, and salt; set mixture aside. In a large bowl beat the eggs, the 1 cup brown sugar, and the vanilla on medium high speed for 4 minutes or until thick.  Pour in melted margarine or butter; mix well. Alternately add flour mixture and sour cream, beating on low speed after each addition just until combined. Stir in raisins or currants. Pour into prepared pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.  Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan;  cool. Combine powdered sugar and the 1 tablespoon brown sugar. Stir in enough cream or milk to reach drizzling consistency. Drizzle over cooled cake; garnish with sliced almonds.
Makes 12 servings.
