Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday October 25th 2004 "Starlene, it's great to see ya," Vinny said in his thick Brooklyn accent as he watched the buxom blonde walk into Skeeter's lingerie store on Bleecker Street. "Hi Vinny," she said brushing her long blonde hair from her eyes purposely displaying the diamond ring on her finger. "So how's married life?" Mafia connected Vinny asked. Starlene's sister Tiffany and her ex-husband Skeeter listened as they stood near a rack of thongs. "It's great. I'm really happy with Stanley," she said referring to her wealthy older groom. "Skeeter says he called your family's house in Lillard, Georgia while you were introducing the old man to the parents," Vinny said hesitantly. "Yeah." "I hear that you told the folks you might be pregnant," he said bracing for her response. "No, I'm not. I just told them that because they didn't seem to like Stanley. I thought that would pressure them to try a little harder," she admitted. "Whew. I was worried. I thought if you were in a family way I'd never have another chance." "Look Vinny, I'm married now," she said. "Okay, but if things don't work out or if that old man isn't good to you then let me know. I'll be waiting for you," Vinny said. "That's nice Vinny, but I think Stanley and I are going to be happy." "I guess I'll go and let you guys catch up on everything," Vinny said feeling uncomfortable. He waved and walked towards the front door of the lingerie store to leave. "That was nice of him. Wasn't it?" Skeeter said as they watched him walk out into the sidewalk on Bleecker Street. "Yeah, but I hope he knows to leave me alone," Starlene said. "He's a good back up for you Starlene," Skeeter said. "Skeeter that's not exactly how people go into a marriage," Tiffany said. "Look, it's time for my soap opera," Starlene said glancing at her watch. "Here take my key and I'll be up in a minute," Tiffany said handing Starlene the key to her apartment upstairs. "See ya," she said waving as she rushed towards the front door. "Okay Skeeter. Tell me about this girl you rented Starlene's bedroom to while I was gone." Tiffany forced herself to control her anger over him not following her instructions to only interview women for the room. "She seems nice Tiffany. She really needed the apartment and didn't want to wait until you got back from Georgia for an answer." "I told you not to rent the room but to just weed out the undesirables." "I did you a favor. You got the room rented and that's what you needed." "What if I don't like her though?" "I don't know Tiffany. I guess you'll have to ask her to leave if you don't like her." "Leave? You mean she's already moved in?" "I think she brought a few things over yesterday," he said thinking about the close intimacies he'd shared with the club dancer while his ex-wife was in Georgia. "Skeeter I can't believe you did this to me. I wanted to meet her first." "Look here's the money. First and last months rent," he said taking out his wallet and pulling out a wad of folded money. "That should help you out," he said handing her the money. "Yeah, the money helps but I worry that I won't like her," she said as she put the money in her purse. "I did you a favor. The least you can do is show a little appreciation," he said through narrowed eyes. "I do appreciate you trying to help me out. I just wish I had met her first." "She'll be here soon. Then you can make up your mind," he said glancing at his watch. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
