Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday September 20th 2004 Starlene closed the door to the apartment and walked back into the living room where her sister Tiffany was seated on the sofa. "Oh gee. Looks like we have a big problem here," Starlene said taking a seat in a nearby chair. She had just talked to her next door neighbor Vinny. Vinny told her that he had called her older lover Stanley and talked to him. "Yeah. A real big problem," Tiffany said having just overheard Starlene's conversation with Vinny in the hallway. "I don't know what to do. I wonder if Vinny really talked to Stanley?" "I don't know. I'm staying out of this," Tiffany said. "I'll call Stanley and ask him," she said picking up the phone and hitting speed dial. "Mr. Morgan's residence," the housekeeper answered. "Hi this is Starlene. Could I speak to Stanley please?" "Yes. One minute," she said putting her hand over the phone. She heard the housekeeper say "it's Starlene". "Hello," Stanley said. "Stanley how are you honey?" she asked sweetly attempting to test the waters. "Fine." "I had a good time last night," she said referring to their trip to Atlantic City. She hoped he'd forget how Vinny had been standing in front of her building when he drove her home. "Yes, it was nice Starlene. But..." he said stopping himself. "What Stanley?" "I just can't handle this Starlene. Vinny called me when I got home." "I'm furious with Vinny for waiting on the sidewalk and watching your driver unload my luggage from the limo," she said. "I can't handle it Starlene. It's too much." "Oh come on Stanley. I can't help him acting like that." "I think things have gone too far Starlene. Vinny told me some things I didn't really know until today." "Like what? What did he say?" "He says that the two of you were…." he hesitated. "What? What did he say?" she asked angrily. "That the two of you were intimate many times while you were seeing me," Stanley repeated as his voice broke in pain. "That's a lie! I can't believe he said that." "I don't know Starlene." "What do you mean you don't know? Don't you believe me over a Mafia guy," she said. "Starlene he says I'm a fool to believe that you would almost marry him if you hadn't been with him," he said lighting a cigarette with his spare hand. "Oh that Vinny! He's lying to get me to marry him. He's trying to break us up Stanley. Can't you see it?" she said glancing at the three dozen long stem red roses Vinny had sent her today. "Well, you want to get married. Maybe you should just marry him Starlene." "How can you say that? How can you just stand by and let him do this Stanley?" "I'm not a match for the Mafia Starlene." "But I love you Stanley." "I love you too Starlene but maybe it's just not meant to be anymore," he said. "You sure are giving up easy." "Not really Starlene. What kind of life could we have with someone tracking us every day?" "Did he say he would track us everyday?" she asked. "I hope you'll be happy honey," he said hanging up the phone.
