Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday August 27th 2004
"Clark go ahead tell us what happened next", Tiffany said as she watched her boss Clark wipe the tears from his cheeks. She glanced at her sister Starlene.  They listened intently to his side of the story about catching his wife Nicole cheating on him with a car salesman.
"It all happened so fast. I didn't know," he said starting to cry again as he relived the incident that just took place at his wife Nicole's former apartment on Bleecker Street.
Tiffany got up from her desk and walked towards the sofa where he was seated in the townhouse where he runs his party planning business.
"Clark are you okay?" Starlene asked. She decided to join her sister where Clark was seated in the living room. She got up from her chair and walked towards the sofa where he was seated. She took a seat on the other side of her sister's distraught boss.
"I'll be okay. Give me a minute here," he said as his body shook and he held his face with his hands.
"So you heard noises when you opened the front door of Nicole's apartment." Tiffany said repeating the scene he had just recited.
He nodded his head 'yes'.
"You thought it was a burglar or somebody ransacking the bedroom when you heard something hitting the wall. So you picked up the heavy statue of  "The Thinker" and took it with you when you went to the bedroom," Tiffany said repeating almost word for word what he had told them before he became too emotional to talk.
"I thought maybe somebody was hurting Nicole when I heard moans," he said shaking his head.
"So you quickly pushed the bedroom door open with your foot and you're holding the statue over your head," Tiffany said as he once again shook his head in the affirmative.
"Then what happened Clark?" she asked as she glanced up to see Starlene rubbing his back.
"I... I... " he said stopping as his words became choked back with tears.
"What Clark?  What did you do?" Starlene asked.
"Just before I pushed the door open with my foot.  I heard Nicole," he said stopping to gain composure.
"Take your time.  We understand," Tiffany said rubbing his shoulder as he held his face in his hands.
"I heard her moaning.  I thought for sure somebody was hurting her she was moaning
so loud," he said.
"And", Tiffany said.
"I went in with the statue over my head and I saw a man in the bed on top of Nicole!" he said as he took his hands off his face and looked at Tiffany.
"Oh my," Tiffany said not wanting to say that she wasn't the least bit surprised by this.
"I hit the naked man on the head," Clark said before throwing his hands back up to his face.
"Oh!  Oh wow!" Tiffany said, as Starlene looked on wide-eyed.
"There, there, it will be okay," Tiffany said as his shoulders shook when he cried.
"I don't know," he mumbled.
"What do you mean Clark?" Tiffany asked.
"They took him away," he said.
"Who?  Who took the man away?" Starlene asked.
"The paramedics."
"You mean the paramedics had to come to Nicole's apartment?" Tiffany asked beginning to see the magnitude of the problem.
"Yeah, I knocked him out."
"Was he bleeding?"'
"No.  He wasn't moving."
"So what happened after you hit him?"
"I had to pull him off of Nicole and she got up screaming."
"What did she say?" Starlene asked.
"That I was crazy! I just couldn't believe it.  I said Nicole did he hurt you?  Did he break into the apartment?"
"Yeah, yeah! What did she say?" Tiffany asked.
"The man's body rolled over and I saw who it was!  It was Steven that car salesman that sold Vinny his new Ferrari," he said shaking his head.
"Oh no," Tiffany said realizing how this news must have affected her boss.
"I didn't know Nicole was seeing this guy.  How was I to know?  I was only trying to protect her. That's what I told the police," he said as he started to cry again.
"The police?  You mean the police had to come there?" Starlene asked shaking her head in amazement.
"Of course.  What was I going to do leave the body there and go on the lamb?" He said as he started to cry again.
"You didn't...
kill him. Did you Clark?" Tiffany asked as she saw Starlene wiping the perspiration from her forehead.
