Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday August 25th 2004 "What did Vinny say?" Starlene whispered as she and her sister stood beneath the staircase in the townhouse where Tiffany works. They were eavesdropping on the fight going on upstairs between Tiffany's boss Clark and his cheating wife Nicole. "I can't go into all of that now," Tiffany said glancing upstairs towards Clark's office "Well, was it bad? Is Vinny mad at me?" Starlene asked referring to the fact that Mafia connected Vinny wanted to marry her. She had recently taken a ride with him in his new red Ferrari. They went to City Hall and almost got married. If Vinny had known they needed a license one day beforehand the wedding vows would have taken place. "He's still determined to marry you Starlene," Tiffany whispered as they heard the water turn off in the shower upstairs. "She's getting out of the shower," Starlene said glancing back up towards Clark's office. "Nicole we have to talk," Clark said walking towards the bathroom. "What do you want to talk about Clark?" "How can you ask me a question like that after what just happened?" "Well, talk then. Just talk to me," she said walking back into their bedroom as he followed her. Tiffany and Starlene could hear the sound of drawers opening and Nicole's footsteps. "You have to clean up this mess you made Clark. That was stupid throwing our wedding picture on the floor and breaking it," she said in a casual voice. "I'm upset Nicole." "Yeah, but I'm going to be really upset if I step on this glass and cut my foot," she said, "Just be careful. I'll get it up later," he said watching her pull on her tight jeans. "Why Nicole? Will you just tell me why?" "I don't know Clark. I just did it," she said picking up a halter-top from the bed and pulling it on. "How long has this been going on?" "Not long." "Have there been other men Nicole?" "Clark I'm here most all of the time. What kind of stupid question is that?" "I have a right to know." "No Clark. None of it is anything like you think." "Do you love me?" he asked. "Not when you whine like this," she said as Tiffany and Starlene turned to look at each other in shock by such a cold remark. "I'm sickened by this Nicole. My heart is broken. I don't know if I can ever get over this," Clark said as Nicole started towards the stairs to come down to the living room. "Hurry!" Tiffany whispered as the two sisters quickly tiptoed back to the area of Tiffany's desk. Tiffany took her seat at her desk as Starlene took her seat in the chair in front of her desk. "Well, I can't do anything about it Clark, not one thing. If you want a divorce then fine, just file," she said as she raced down the stairs. "Nicole wait. I have to talk to you," Clark said as she grabbed her purse from the table beside the front door. "We just talked Clark. We talked about the whole thing," Nicole said as he raced down the stairs and stopped in the foyer to stare at her. She glanced towards Tiffany's desk and saw the two sisters pretending not to be watching. "Talk to Tiffany and Starlene. They were listening to every word. Maybe they can make you understand," she said opening the front door and walking out into the bright sunshine. "Where are you going Nicole?" he asked holding the door and watching her as she walked across the cobblestones of the MacDougal Mews. "Out for a drink," she said. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
