Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday July 30th 2004 "Take a seat over there and we'll call you when it's your turn", the clerk said as she pointed at the chairs in the large room at City Hall. "You mean all those people are waiting to get married?" Vinny asked as Starlene straightened the skirt on her long white wedding gown. "Yeah, it goes fast though." "How fast?" "We ask each of you a question and that's it," the clerk said motioning for him to step aside for the couple behind them. "Next," she said as the couple behind them stepped forward. "You mean we have to sit over here and wait," Starlene said looking at the large crowd of casually dressed people waiting. "Yeah, they said it's going fast though," Vinny said as he took Starlene by the arm and they walked into the dingy gray waiting room. "I'm the only woman wearing a wedding gown," Starlene said realizing everyone was staring at her. "You look great honey. Have a seat here and I'm going to the men's room," Vinny said as she took a seat in a chair beside a young pregnant woman. Starlene glanced around the room. She watched as everyone glanced towards the clerk when she called out "Jones and McGinnis." The pregnant girl beside her got out of her chair and placed her hands on the small of her back. She started to walk towards the wedding chapel as if she were following her protruding belly. "Good thing they called our name. I was beginning to think this baby would be here for our wedding," she said to her young longhaired groom as they walked towards the clerk. "Starlene, I thought I'd find you here," a man said rushing towards her and glancing down at her voluptuous bosom in her low cut wedding dress. "Have we met?" Starlene asked as she studied the face of the stranger. "Yeah, but you might not remember me. Stanley sent me. Where is your groom?" "In the men's room. You said Stanley sent you?" she asked shocked. "Yeah, he wants for me to tell you that he loves you," the young man said. "He's too late," Starlene said glancing towards the men's room and seeing that Vinny was entering the men's room and closing the door. "He said that you would say that. He wants me to tell you that he wants to marry you." "I've heard that before," she said as she noticed a couple listening to the conversation. "Gold and Winestein," the clerk called out. "That's us", the couple said getting up and slowly walking towards the clerk. "Just when it was starting to be fun waiting," the girl said glancing back at Starlene. "I've waited for years on Stanley and I can't wait anymore," Starlene said. "Is that your final answer?" the man asked. "What is this a game show or my life?" Starlene asked. "Well Stanley said if you refuse... he wanted me to tell you that he called the editor of Playbody Magazine and they would like to have you model again," the man said watching her face light up. "Really?" she asked turning to see Vinny walking back towards her. "Yeah, he said not to marry this guy, that you have a bright future and he will do whatever it takes to make you happy," the man said lowering his voice as he noticed Vinny walking towards them. "Who's this?" Vinny asked frowning as he walked towards the stranger. "I work with Playbody Magazine. I was there when Starlene did her photo shoot," the man said raising his eyebrows as he glanced down at her low cut wedding dress. "I don't remember seeing you," Starlene said. "I was there. I remember seeing you," he said grinning. "What do you think you're doing here? We're getting married. That was part of her past and she ain't interested in anything like that now," Vinny said in his thick Brooklyn accent. "I was sent to tell her that she has another job with Playbody if she wants it," the man said. "She ain't posing for any magazines. I outta put your lights out," Vinny said angrily walking closer to the man as he pushed up his shirtsleeves. "Vinny no," Starlene said as Vinny's friend rushed towards them with his video camera.
