Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday July 28th 2004 "She hung up on me," Tiffany said as she walked to the sofa in her Bleecker Street apartment and took a seat beside her neighbor and ex-husband Skeeter. "Just let it be Tiffany. She's going to do whatever she wants," he said. "I can't sit here and let her marry Vinny. He's in the Mafia," she said as she opened her tiny cell phone again. "What are you doing?" "Calling Stanley," she said. "He can't do anything. It's his fault this is happening. If he had married her like he promised she wouldn't have run off with Vinny like this." "Just let me handle this," she said waving her hand for him to be quiet as she heard Stanley pick up the phone in his Upper East Side mansion. "Hello," Stanley answered. "Stanley, I just talked to Starlene," she said breathlessly. "Is she okay?" "Yeah, she's in Little Italy at some restaurant with Vinny." "That figures," he said thinking about Vinny's Mafia ties. "Stanley this is really serious stuff. I think she's going to marry him." "I hope not," he said feeling tears coming to his eyes. "She feels like you will never marry her now. She thinks she doesn't have any choices left," Tiffany said repeating her sister's fears. "I was going to marry her," he said weakly. "Are you sure?" "I think so," he said. "Well if we don't do something soon it will be too late. She thinks you are so angry with her that you would never forgive her or marry her now." "I'd forgive her. I've cooled down about it and my housekeeper and I have been talking. She knows Starlene. She says she thinks Starlene just wanted to ride in that new Ferrari that Vinny bought." "Yeah, yeah, that's it," Tiffany said relieved that he wasn't angry with Starlene any longer. "But it's too late now. I've made her think I could never forgive her." "Stanley you have to do something." "Well what could I possibly do?" "I don't know but she has to feel like she could marry you or at least have something to look forward to." "I don't know what I could do." "I think they're planning to go to City Hall and get married." "I can't believe this. I just can't believe this," he said feeling a pain in his chest. "You have to stop her Stanley. You're the only one that can stop her," Tiffany said. "You think I should go there and wait for her?" "That's a good idea," Tiffany said hopefully. "Tiffany I'm an older man. Vinny is a muscular young hoodlum and he'd just love an opportunity to get at me," Stanley said as he sipped his martini. "Well, I don't know what to say. If you don't do something then she'll probably be married by sundown," Tiffany said glancing at the clock. "Okay. I'll see what I can come up with," he said. "Thanks Stanley. You do love her don't you?" "More than anyone in the world," he said as his voice cracked in pain. "Call me and keep me posted. I'm not leaving this apartment until I hear," Tiffany said. "I will," he said hanging up his phone. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
