Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday July 6th 2004 Starlene squinted in the bright sunshine as she listened to the sound of the horn blowing on the red Ferrari that had just pulled up behind the taxi cab on Bleecker Street. She glanced back at the cab driver. "You know who this is?" she asked thinking perhaps that he knew who was driving the expensive red car that had pulled up behind him. "My friends drive garbage trucks lady," the cab driver said. "Whoever it is they are waving," she said as the door on the red Ferrari opened and the driver got out of the car. "Vinny!" Starlene said shocked to see him in such an expensive car. "Hey there Starlene," he said as he closed the door to his new car and started to walk towards the cab. "Lady," the cab driver said. "Just a minute, okay?" Starlene said as she shifted the long white wedding gown in the clear plastic bag that was draped over her arm. "Sure, the meter is running. I can sit here as long as you want," the driver said shaking his head as he glanced at Vinny in the rear view mirror. "Vinny what are you doing here?" Starlene asked as he came closer to her. She noticed the heavy smell of his after-shave. "Just in the neighborhood," he lied as he glanced back at his new red Ferrari. "Is that your car?" Starlene asked. "Yeah, I just got it. You like it honey?" he asked pleased to see the look in her eyes as she stared at his expensive automobile. "Yeah, that's the coolest car I've ever seen Vinny," she said noticing that the plastic cover on the wedding gown was beginning to make her arm sweat. "What kind of car is that Vinny?" "A Ferrari," he said as he pushed his shoulders back thinking about the price tag. "A Ferry," she said. "Ferrari Starlene. It's one of the hottest and most expensive cars in the world," he said pleased with her reaction. "Wow, it sure is good looking," she said as she noticed people stopping on the sidewalk to look at the car. "Wanna go for a ride?" "Well, actually I'm kind of busy now," she said glancing into the cab at the driver as he waited for her to get into the car. "Where's you going? I could give you a ride," Vinny offered in his thick Brooklyn accent. "I'm packing up to go over to Stanley's. I'm moving back in with him." "Yeah, Tiffany told me on the phone that you're thinking about marrying that old man," Vinny said noticing the long white wedding gown on her arm. "Yeah, here's the wedding gown. I'm taking it with me. I bought it just before he changed his mind the last time. I hope to get to use it now." "I'd never leave you holding onto a wedding gown. If you were my girl you'd get anything you want." "That's sweet Vinny," she said remembering the few times they had come close to consummating an intimate relationship when she'd been angry with Stanley. "I mean it Starlene. If it's money that you're worried about then I can tell you I probably got more money than he does," he said referring to his work in the Mafia. "You think?" she asked glancing back at the gleaming red car. "Yeah and I spend it on fun stuff too Starlene. I'm more your age, you know. I could show you some good times honey," he said walking closer to her. The sun sparkled on the gold chains on his muscular neck. Tiffany watched from her upstairs window as Vinny kissed her sister on the cheek. She thought surely Starlene would get into the cab and Vinny would leave. She was shocked to see Starlene walking with Vinny toward his new car. Her heart raced when Vinny opened the door for Starlene. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
