Stanley's receptionist asked as she watched the pretty blonde walk into the lobby of Stanley's office in the Empire State Building. "Oh I've been better." "What's the matter?" "Stanley and I still haven't really patched it up yet," she said referring to him canceling their wedding plans after finding out that she'd been out with another man. "I'm sorry to hear that." "Is he in his office?" "As far as I know. I just got back from lunch. I guess he's in there," she said nodding towards Stanley's office. "Good. I'm going to sneak back and surprise him," Starlene said quickly walking towards the hallway. "Well I wish you'd let me call him." "I'll tell him you weren't at your desk if he asks. I won't get you in trouble," Starlene paused and whispered before starting back towards his office. She got to the door and stopped to listen. She heard a woman's voice and she stopped and put her ear to the door. "I don't know what to do," Stanley said. "I thought you'd already made up your mind Stanley," the woman said. "It just seems to keep getting more involved and harder." "Just let her go. Let her do whatever she wants. She's old enough to live her life without you," the woman said. "I know. I'm sick of all of it too," Stanley said as Starlene could feel the blood rushing to her face. "She's been nothing but trouble. She can't seem to get a man and keep him. Why would this ever be any different? Just let her work out her own problems. You've done enough for her," the woman said. Starlene could barely contain her anger at the words. The door was cracked open just a little so she cautiously peeped in to get a glimpse of the woman in the office. She saw the big hair and immediately knew it was the older celebrity Lola that Stanley had dated for years. "I mean Stanley darling, this is ridiculous that she comes crying to you every time she gets dumped," Lola said crossing her legs and leaning back in the chair. "Well what is she going to go to?" "Let her get a life darling. It's time for you to enjoy your life and your freedom. Think of all the places we used to go and how much fun we had darling," Lola said. "I know." "Well, get on with your life Stanley. Let her solve her own problems. I'm sick of her whining like a slighted schoolgirl. Maybe if you quit picking her up every time she falls down she'll grow up." "I know. I know," he said. Starlene took a deep breath as her heart raced with anger. "Do you want me to see if I can find a man for her?" "I don't know. Do you think you know anyone that might be interested?" he asked doubtfully. The office door swung open and hit the back of the wall abruptly as Starlene entered red faced with anger. "I'll have you know there are plenty of men interested in me and I certainly don't need your help," she said walking to the chair where Lola was seated in front of Stanley's desk. "Starlene!" Stanley said. "Yes Stanley, I heard every word," she said looking at him through narrowed eyes. "Oh for heaven sake," Lola said. "You have your nerve coming to my Stanley's office like this. You better get out and get out now," Starlene said hitting the edge of his desk with her hand. "Starlene," Stanley said. "What Stanley? What?" Starlene yelled. "You don't understand," he said. "Oh yes I do," she said. "Stanley, I'm leaving darling. I'll talk to you later," Lola said grabbing her purse and getting up from the chair. "No you won't talk to him later either. If you do he'll never be talking to me again," Starlene said as Stanley stood up and watched as Lola walked out into the hallway. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
