Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday June 4th 2004 "Good night Skeeter," Tiffany said as she shut the door of her apartment and walked back towards the sofa where her sister Starlene was seated. "Want a drink?" Starlene asked as she poured a glass of wine from the decanter on the coffee table. "I guess I could have one more," Tiffany said walking to the sofa and taking a seat. "What do you think about what Skeeter said?" Tiffany asked as Starlene handed her a glass of wine. "I'm furious with Stanley for lying to me about Lola. How dare him sleep with her and tell me that it was innocent. Old friends, bull!" she said fighting back the tears. "I shouldn't have let him have his way with me tonight." "Are you going to let him know that you know this?" "Yeah, I'm going to call him. Don't you think I should?" "I guess," Tiffany said taking a sip of her wine. "Seems both of our men are liars," Tiffany said. "I thought you and Skeeter were hitting it off. It looked like if I hadn't come home the two of you were going to be hot and heavy," Starlene said remembering the scene in the darkened living room when she came home and surprised the couple. "I'm glad you did interrupt us now," Tiffany said. "What's the matter? I thought you and Skeeter were really hitting it off." "We were," Tiffany said. "What's wrong?" "How did Skeeter know that Jan caught Stanley in bed with Lola?" "I guess he talked to Jan," Starlene said as her eyes widened. "Oh, he told you he never talks to Jan anymore, huh?" "That's right. That means that Skeeter is probably talking to Jan everyday and stringing me along too," Tiffany said. "Well, we'll find out what's going on," Starlene said taking her cell phone from her purse. "You're calling him?" "Nope. I'm going to call Lola," she said reaching for the Manhattan White Pages. "I don't know if I'd do that Starlene," Tiffany said watching Starlene flip through the thick book. "Well, I want to know," she said as she dialed the phone number and listened. "Hello," Lola said into the phone as she turned down the movie she was watching on TV. "Is this Lola Rogers?" Starlene asked. "Yes." "This is Starlene... Stanley's girlfriend," she said waiting for a response. "Why are you calling me late at night? Has something happened to Stanley? Oh no! Did he have a heart attack?" "No, he didn't have a heart attack," Starlene repeated rolling her eyes for Tiffany's benefit. "Oh. Then what is it?" she snapped. "I'm engaged to Stanley and we've agreed to live apart before we set the wedding date," Starlene said taking a deep breath. "Oh," Lola said turning down the volume on the TV again. "Yes and I was having lunch with my sister Tiffany and we saw you with Stanley on Columbus Avenue looking at jewelry." "Oh yes," Lola said remembering the day they had walked together up Columbus Avenue after lunch at the Time Warner Building. "Well, I want to know what's going on?" "What do you mean?" "Just what do you think I mean? Are you seeing my Stanley?" "How dare you phone me late at night questioning me in this manner," Lola said. "I have a right to," Starlene insisted. "I don't think so. This is totally unacceptable," Lola sneered. "I know you're sleeping with my Stanley... and we're engaged. That's what I call totally unacceptable," Starlene said her voice rising with each word.
