Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday June 3rd 2004
"Why do you keep inferring that you don't believe that there's nothing going on between my Stanley and Lola?"  Starlene asked Skeeter as he sat on the sofa beside Tiffany.
"Oh forget it," Skeeter said putting his arm on the back of the sofa and pulling Tiffany a little closer.
"No, Skeeter.  If you know something about Stanley and Lola then you owe it to Starlene to tell her," Tiffany said moving away and giving him a look of distrust.
"I don't know anything," he said half-heartedly.
"You did date Lola for a while.  Is she a man chaser?" Starlene asked.
"Look we better not get into this again. It only makes Tiffany angry," he said looking at his ex-wife as she watched him closely.
"Tiffany wants to know too," Starlene said.
"Yeah why are you so closed mouth about her Skeeter?" Tiffany asked distrustfully.
"Come on Tiffany we've been through this thing with me and Lola a hundred times," Skeeter said before taking a long drag on his cigarette.
"But did Lola tell you anything about when she and Stanley were lovers?" Starlene asked.
"She mentioned him some," he said putting out his cigarette in the ashtray on the coffee table.
"Was she in love with Stanley?"
"Yeah, she said she loved him when they were a couple."
"He didn't tell me that," Starlene said under her breath as she glanced towards Tiffany.
"Well Starlene you know Stanley must have liked her a lot to spend years dating her," Tiffany said.
"He spent years with me too," Starlene said thoughtfully.
"Just let it be Starlene. All I'm trying to say is you should look out for yourself.  If that old man isn't going to marry you then move on baby," Skeeter said.
"I think he is going to marry me though," Starlene said.
"Oh did he say that tonight?" Tiffany asked.
"Well after we... you know," she said raising her eyebrows to infer intimacy. "He said he couldn't stand the thought of me being with another man.  Then he said he couldn't let us live apart much longer," Starlene said remembering Stanley's words as he got dressed to bring her home.
"I don't know," Skeeter said again.
"There you go again Skeeter," Starlene said leaning forward in her chair and glaring at him. "Do you know something you aren't telling me?"
"Well, I just don't believe him," Skeeter said.
"Well tell me why you say that?" she said.
"Because. I just don't," he said taking a sip from his can of beer and placing the can back on the coffee table.
"Well, I know my Stanley.  He doesn't love Lola.  He says them being together was purely innocent and I believe him," Starlene said.
"That's about as innocent as Tiffany and me," Skeeter said.
"Okay that's it. I know you know something, so tell me," Starlene said frowning.
"I know that Lola spent the night in Stanley's bedroom the other night.  How innocent does he think that is," Skeeter said remembering the many times the old man had angered him when he was married to his daughter Jan.
"Oh really!  Are you serious Skeeter?" Starlene asked as her heart raced.
"Yeah."
"You're sure?" Starlene repeated.
"Yeah," he said leaning back on the sofa.
"How do you know something like that?" Starlene asked not wanting to believe him.
"Jan came by the next morning and the two of them were in bed.  She said she caught them going at it hot and heavy," Skeeter said raising his eyebrows and grinning.
