Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday June 1st 2004 "Hi Stanley," Starlene said as she slid into the back of the long white limo next to her wealthy older lover. "Hi honey. You look fabulous," he said as his eyes feasted on her low cut black dress and voluptuous bosom. "Well, I wanted you to see what you're missing," she said pressing her shoulders against the seat as she watched his eyes travel over her dress. "I know what I'm missing all too well," he said as a look of depression came over his aging face. "Where are you taking me for dinner?" she asked ignoring his comment. "Tavern on the Green," he said knowing it was her favorite restaurant. "Oh good. I just love it there. I've had this fantasy that we'd get married there one day," she said in her southern accent. "I see you are at least still wearing my ring," he said glancing at the large diamond on her finger. "Yeah. I didn't want any of this to happen to us Stanley. You know I wanted to get married," she said as he poured drinks from the bar. "I know Starlene. To us," he said handing her a drink. "I can't drink to us yet," she said taking a sip of her drink as he held his glass towards her. "Why not?" "We've got to get some things straightened out tonight Stanley," she said as she watched him sip his wine. "I know." "Why were you with Lola Rogers the other day Stanley?" she asked referring to seeing him with the celebrity as they gazed into a window of a jewelry store on the Upper West Side. "We just had lunch together." "Oh, so you're going to tell me it's innocent?" "Yes, it was innocent. We had lunch at the new Time Warner Building then we walked up Columbus Avenue window shopping," he said referring to his lunch date with his former lover. "Then why did she answer your home phone when I called there later?" Starlene asked frowning. "Lola isn't a stranger at my house Starlene. She used to stay there for weeks on end when we were a couple." "But you're engaged to me now," she said angrily. "I was engaged. You're the one that went to a hotel with that guy that lives in your building," he said lighting his first cigarette in a week. "It didn't mean anything Stanley. I only saw him because you wouldn't commit to our wedding date." "Starlene, it won't work out that way. I can't have a serious relationship with you if you just leave and go off with other men every time you don't get your way." "That's not fair! I waited for you to agree to marry me for over a year. I lived with you as a wife. I tried," she said as he refilled her wineglass. "Well its not too late I don't guess," he said refilling his glass as she sipped her wine. "You guess? What does that mean? Have you become that serious with Lola?" "I think I'm the one that should be asking if you're that serious with this neighbor of yours?" "He really likes me Stanley," she said not wanting to admit that she had later found out that Marco was married and had lied to her. "Starlene you're the one that packed your bags and left me. You're the one that said you weren't willing to wait." "But I bought my wedding dress and then you said no," she said as tears started to roll down her heavily made up cheeks. "Oh honey. Look at us. I don't know what to do. If I thought you hadn't been unfaithful to me we would be married now," he said shaking his graying head. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
