Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday May 17th 2004 Tiffany and Skeeter sat up quickly on the sofa when they heard the key in the front door of Tiffany's apartment on Bleecker Street. "I thought you said Starlene was at Stanley's tonight," Skeeter whispered as he brushed his fingers through his thick dark hair. "Yeah, she was," Tiffany said softly, buttoning her blouse and zipping her jeans quickly as the front door opened. "It's me," Starlene called out into the dimly lit living room. "Hi Starlene, Skeeter's over here tonight," Tiffany said reaching for the lamp beside the sofa and turning it on with the switch. "Oh hi Skeeter. Did I interrupt you guys?" Starlene asked tossing her purse onto a table as she walked into the living room. "No," Tiffany lied as she leaned back on the sofa and watched her sister. "You sure?" Starlene asked seeing that Tiffany's blouse was twisted and buttoned wrong. "No honey, we were just talking. What are you doing home early? I though you and Stanley were going to Tavern on the Green to celebrate your engagement," Tiffany said. "Oh it didn't work out," Starlene moaned as she collapsed onto a chair nearby. "What's the matter Starlene? I see that look in your eye," Tiffany said noticing the depression on her sister's face. "Yeah, this isn't the happy person I know," Skeeter said watching her closely. "It was awful," Starlene said as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Oh wow. You're really upset," Tiffany said. "Yeah, I bought my wedding gown today and tonight my wedding was canceled," she said grabbing a Kleenex from the box on the table. "What happened? That old man chicken out?" Skeeter said referring to his Father-in-law. "He had a right, I guess. This friend of Stanley's saw me at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel having drinks with Marco," she said shaking her head in anguish. "No?" Tiffany said. "Yeah and the bad part is this guy must have been sitting right next to Marco and me in the lounge. He heard every word we said. He heard Marco saying something like 'he'd never been to bed with a woman that makes him feel so good'". "That ought to make Stanley think twice about letting you go," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent. "It didn't. It made him think faster that he'd let me go. Oh this is just horrible," Starlene said blowing her nose loudly. "Oh honey I'm so sorry," Tiffany said shaking her head. "Yeah, after all of these years of waiting on Stanley to commit and then this happened. All because of that Marco too! That just makes it worse," she said starting to cry again. "What's the story with this Mark guy?" Skeeter said looking at Tiffany. "Marco. He's married," Tiffany said. "Oh. Well, is he separated?" Skeeter said thinking how this looked bad on him too that he was still married to Jan and seeing his ex-wife Tiffany before the divorce is final. "I don't know. I can't be sure what the story is with him," Starlene said shrugging her shoulders in despair. "Is he that guy that lives upstairs in this building that you were telling me about?" Skeeter asked Tiffany. "Yeah, that's him," Tiffany said nodding. "I don't know whether I should say anything or not," Skeeter said rubbing his chin with his hand. "What?" Tiffany said. "What?" Starlene asked as she grabbed another Kleenex from the box. "I noticed a woman getting mail from his mailbox the other day when I came home," Skeeter said. "No!" Starlene said as she watched him closely. "Are you sure? He said his wife lives in California. Are you sure it was his mailbox?" she said thinking about the possibility of an angry wife right in the building where she lives. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
