Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday May 11th 2004
"My housekeeper make special dinner tonight," Amir said in his broken English as he watched Tiffany take a seat on the sofa in his living room.
"That sounds nice," Tiffany said as she watched him pour drinks into glasses from the decanter on the coffee table.
"To us my love," Amir said handing her a glass as he took a seat on the sofa beside her.
"Yes," she mumbled not looking him in the eyes as she took a sip of her wine.
"Most beautiful woman," he murmured watching her closely before taking a sip of his wine.
They placed their glasses on the coffee table and leaned back on the sofa.
"I think of you many times after we talk in hotel. I hope you understand my how you say... situation," he said referring to the on-going investigation into his ties with his unscrupulous security personnel.
"It's hard for me Amir," she admitted.
"I regret your discomfort."
"I understand this is a difficult situation for you," she said.
"You believe the things I tell you? This is most important thing," he said.
"Yes I believe you Amir. I have to admit it was hard. I mean especially the part about that girl that you were seen with on TV," she said referring to the girl that was pictured sunbathing topless on his island off the coast of Tonga.
"I tell you truth. I tell you the press how you say... blow up... this," he said instantly regretting his choice of words. He didn't want her to worry about the investigation into the possibility of terrorist ties to his security guards.
"It's all very difficult Amir," she said remembering their conversation a few days ago.
"I promise I make it worth for you to go through this," he said smiling.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean it comes time for us to… how you say think of future together, no?" he said watching her closely.
"Amir what are you saying?"
"Maybe we decide to marry and you move to my island, " he said smiling warmly.
"Marry?"
"Yes... maybe one day, no?"
"Amir, we have to talk," she said taking a deep breath.
"Of course, I expect that you take time for consider this," he said as his fingers caressed her leg in the short shirt she was wearing.
"I had no idea you would say anything like this to me," she said as her heart raced remembering the many times she had wished for that.
"I love you Tiffany. I regret you have to wait for me so long. Things take longer than I ever plan. I hope always that one day you wed to me."
"Amir I have to tell you something."
"Yes my love."
"It's not that easy anymore."
"I make you wait too long?"
"It's that Skeeter moved in next door to me," she said referring to her ex-husband.
"He cause you problem?" he asked frowning.
"No, it's not like that. We've started seeing each other again."
"Surely you never go back to this man after everything... " he said stopping when he saw the expression on her face.
"I've been seeing him some and he's promised me that he's turned over a new leaf."
"You believe this?"
"Yes. I have to. After all these years I must give it one more try," she said rubbing her sweaty hands on her shirt.
"Then for us what happen?"
"I guess it's over Amir, unless you are willing to wait and let me try this with Skeeter."
