Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday May 7th 2004 Tiffany picked up the remote to the TV from the coffee table and turned it down when she heard the front door of her apartment open. "Hi Starlene," she said smiling expecting her young sister to be bubbling over with news about her recent wedding plans. "Hi Tiffany," Starlene said slamming the door and throwing her purse on the floor. "Gee, what happened to you? You don't look like the blushing bride," Tiffany said noticing the depressed look on Starlene's face. She watched as her sister walked into the living room and fell into a chair across from the sofa where she was seated. "I'm so disappointed. Men!" Starlene said leaning back in the chair and kicking off her high heels. "What's the matter? Stanley didn't change his mind did he?" Tiffany asked referring to the older man that had finally agreed to take the big step after more than a year of procrastination. "No, thank goodness Stanley really loves me. It's not him." "Then what's the matter? "I met with Marco to tell him that I was going to marry Stanley. You know... break it off with him," she said referring to the man she had met that lives in their building. She had gone out with him a few times and the meetings had turned passionate right away. "I guess he was really angry." "No, not in the least." "Oh so your feelings are hurt?" "No, he's married!" Starlene said as she put her feet up on the coffee table. "Uh-huh! I knew there was something wrong about him. The way he always wanted to take you to a hotel and he never took you to his apartment," Tiffany said remembering the short romance. "I believed him when he said they were separated. I believed him. What a jerk," Starlene said. "I bet he was lying about everything else too including his fancy job as a TV talent scout." "I think he was telling the truth about that part. That's the only thing that bothers me about this" "Well, you did break up with him didn't you?" "Yeah. But I kinda hate it about the TV thing... so I tried to leave it, you know," she said looking down at the floor to avoid Tiffany's eyes. "You know what?" "Friendly... kinda. I mean I do want my own TV show if he can come up with something. But I want to marry Stanley too." "You told him that?" "I told him that I'm marrying Stanley but if he ever comes up with an opportunity for me to have a TV show that I want him to consider me." "What did he say to that?" "He said 'Well sure Starlene. I mean there isn't any reason for anything to change between us honey. Now we're on the same page.'" "That's horrible," Tiffany said. "Yeah, I thought so too. I was just steaming. How could he ever have been so dishonest with me and then expect me to keep seeing him. I was so mad I almost threw my fork on the table and walked out of the restaurant. But then I thought about the possibility of him getting me my own TV show." "Leaving would've been the right thing to do," Tiffany said as the phone rang on the coffee table. She reached for the phone and answered it saying "Hello". "Tiffany is Starlene home?" Stanley asked. "Sure Stanley! Congratulations! Starlene told me the big news that the two of you are getting married. I just can't wait," Tiffany said as she watched Starlene smile. "We'll see," Stanley said. CONTINUED MONDAY.
