Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday May 6th 2004 Starlene glanced up when she saw Marco walking towards the table in the restaurant where she was seated. "Starlene darling," he said smiling broadly as he approached the table. "Hi Marco," she said grinning as he took a seat in the chair beside her. "I'm glad you phoned me. I have to go back to California tomorrow," he said as he unfolded his napkin and placed it on his lap. "Really? You didn't tell me that," she said remembering the other night when they had spent the evening together in a hotel room at the Waldorf Astoria. "I didn't know then. Something came up," he said as the waitress came to the table to take their order. "What will you have today?" the waitress asked holding her pen ready to take the order. "I'll have the pasta special," Starlene said. "Make it two," Marco said not wanting to bother with the menu. The waitress scribbled down the items and walked towards the next table. "When I get back from California I thought maybe we'd take a trip to Atlantic City one weekend," Marco said anxious to spend a weekend alone with her. "Well, I've got something I have to tell you Marco," she admitted with a serious expression on her face. "What honey?" "You remember I told you about my boyfriend Stanley?" she said remembering their conversation and how well he'd taken the details of her long term relationship with another man. "Yes I remember you telling me about that old man you'd been living with. Why did he die?" Marco said smiling broadly. "No, he didn't die and that's not funny," she said not appreciating his humor. "Gee, I was only kidding." "This is a serious conversation Marco," she said as the waitress placed two steaming plates of pasta in front of them. "I'm sorry honey. I guess I'm just kind of punchy after sitting in meetings all morning," he said referring to his job at a TV station where he works as a talent scout. "Well before I go on... " She said hesitating and grinning slyly thinking perhaps he'd found her a job on TV. "No, nothing has come up with a role for you on TV yet. I know that's what you were going to ask me about. Right?" "Yeah. Okay," she said shifting her weight in the chair and preparing to tell him her story. "What's wrong Starlene? I can see something is bothering you," he said watching her closely. "It's about Stanley and me." "What? Are you getting back with the old man?" "I'm going to marry him," she blurted out. "Congratulations," he said picking up his glass of water as if to propose a toast. "Is that all you have to say after we, you know... She hesitated to say noticing the people at the table next to them were listening. "No, it's just that now we'll be on the same page Starlene," he said grinning broadly. "What are you saying Marco?" CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
