She glanced at her lover Amir as he sat across from her at the table in the hotel overlooking Central Park. "Hello," Tiffany answered. "Tiffany I hope I didn't call you at a bad time," her sister Starlene said as she leaned back on the sofa in the living room of Tiffany's apartment on Bleecker Street. "No." "How's it going there?" "Okay. Has Stanley called you?" Tiffany asked referring to Starlene's wealthy older lover. Starlene had left her lover a note saying she had moved out because he wouldn't commit to marriage. She had come to stay at Tiffany's apartment until their issues could be resolved. "Yeah, he called. Of all the nights for him to do this," she said her voice filled with disgust. "What?" "He called and said he would be late getting home he was going to dinner with some of his business associates." "Oh so he didn't know that you'd left him when he called?" Tiffany asked. "No. And it ruined the impact of the note. I mean, I wanted him to go home and see the note, not call me on the phone." "Yeah, so you told him, right?" "Yeah and he was so shocked," she said with satisfaction. "I bet," Tiffany said as she watched Amir get up from his seat and walk to the TV to turn on some music. "Well, guess what?" Starlene said. "What?" "I think Skeeter came home but I didn't see him. Stanley called and I couldn't get to the front door soon enough to see if it was Skeeter or not," she said referring to Tiffany's ex-husband that lives in the apartment next door. Tiffany and Skeeter had recently rekindled their relationship just before Amir came back into town. "But you thought you heard him coming in?" Tiffany asked in a hushed voice. "Yeah, but he hasn't called or knocked on the door or anything," Starlene said. "Okay, I'm sure you can handle it," Tiffany said not wanting to say too much and cause Amir to ask her questions. "Well are you and Amir really hitting it off?" Starlene asked. "No, not really." "Oh my. I thought the two of you would be hot and heavy by now." "I don't think so. I'm just not sure how things will go," Tiffany said as Amir walked into the bathroom and closed the door. "So you aren't doing it?" Starlene asked giggling. "Starlene," Tiffany whispered as she heard the water running in the bathroom. "What?" Starlene asked hearing the urgency in her voice. "Amir's in the bathroom now. I can't really talk much," she said in a soft voice. "Well, do you think you'll be spending the night with Amir?" "I don't know yet. It's much more involved than I ever imagined." "You mean he's involved with that girl we saw on the TV gossip show that was sunbathing topless on his island." "He swears he's not," Tiffany whispered. "Then what? What do you mean?" "He says he's been investigated and that's why he stayed gone so long," she said as she heard the water turn off in the bathroom. "Oh, wow. That's big time. You mean like the FBI and stuff?" "I guess so." "Well he is a foreigner Tiffany. The only thing you ever knew when you met him was that he was rich and had a lot of businesses." "I know," Tiffany admitted as the bathroom door opened and Amir walked out glancing her way. "Well I better go." "Well, just call me before you come home okay?" Starlene said. "Why?" "Stanley's on his way over here. He wants to talk to me," Starlene said. "Stanley's coming to my apartment?" Tiffany said shaking her head in despair. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
