Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday March 30th 2004
Tiffany heard the knock on her front door and she quickly dropped her lip-gloss into her purse and walked towards the door.
"Who is it?" she asked.
"It's me," her sister answered from behind the heavy metal door.
Tiffany quickly opened the door to see Starlene standing beside two large suitcases.
"Oh wow, you really did leave him," she said referring to her sister's older lover Stanley Morgan.
"Yeah," Starlene said as she picked up the suitcases and brought them inside the door of the apartment.  Tiffany closed the door and locked it.
"Was he there when you packed up and left?" Tiffany asked.
"Nope. I just left a note on the table beside the bed."
"What did it say?"
"I've had enough Stanley. If you want me in your bed you'll have to marry me," Starlene said repeating the words she had written on the note pad.
"Oh.  That must have been hard for you?" Tiffany asked watching as Starlene walked towards the sofa and took a seat.
"Yeah.  The note was on the notepads I'd ordered with our names on it when I moved in.  I was
so sure he'd marry me," she said as she leaned back on the sofa.
"Oh well.  You did the right thing honey.  If he's not going to marry you then you do need to move on."
"I guess."
"You sound really unsure."
"Yeah.  Well, I left most of my stuff there you know. I just brought over the really sexy stuff that he likes to see me in. I'm sure he'll notice that it's missing and maybe he'll worry that I'm wearing it with somebody else."
"I hope everything works out," Tiffany said as she walked to the mirror on the living room wall and glanced at her reflection.
"I guess you're all ready for your big night with Amir," Starlene said watching Tiffany as she brushed her long blonde hair from her face.
"Yeah. Do you think you can handle Skeeter if he comes by?" she said referring to her ex-husband that just moved in next door.  The couple had recently started seeing each other again after he left his current wife Jan.
"Oh sure.  If he stops by then I'll stall him and call you."
"I'm not expecting him to come by.  But I can't be sure.  I wish he'd never moved in over there," Tiffany said shaking her head in disgust.
"What's done is done.  Don't worry about it.  Does he usually just drop by and knock on the door?"
"No. I've told him not to do it.  But you know since we've... " she hesitated.
"Since you've done
it with him he thinks he owns you again," Starlene said finishing her sister's sentence.
"That's right.  You know Skeeter.  Anyway, I usually hear him when he opens the door to his apartment.  Just don't turn the music up and you'll hear him when he comes home," Tiffany said closing her purse and picking up her lightweight jacket to leave.
"Where are you and Amir going to be?  At his house?"
"No.  He's staying at a hotel tonight.  That's something I don't understand either," Tiffany said shaking her head.
"You mean why he'd stay in a hotel when he's been gone so long from his beautiful mansion."
"Exactly, it just seems strange.  You'd think he would be dying to see his house again after so many months."
"Well, at least he's dying to see you," Starlene said.
"Wish me luck," Tiffany said as she started towards the door to leave.
"Are you going to do
it?" Starlene asked grinning.
"I don't know.  We'll see," Tiffany said.
"I sure would.  Skeeter will never find out.  I'll take care of that for you," Starlene said as she got up to follow her sister to the front door.
