Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday March 17th 2004 "It's me," Starlene said as she opened the door to her sister's apartment overlooking Bleecker Street. "In here," Tiffany said walking from her bedroom to the living room. "Hi Tiffany. I thought I'd stop by. I want to get downtown early this morning for the sale at Century 21," Starlene said referring to the downtown designer store. "Oh I wish I could go with you but I have to work," Tiffany said noticing that Starlene had taken a seat on the sofa and was opening a bag with coffee and bagels. "You look nice," Starlene said noticing her sister was dressed impeccably for work. "I thought maybe Skeeter would ask me to lunch today," Tiffany said smiling broadly as she took a seat on the sofa beside her sister. "The two of you are really hitting it off, huh?" Starlene asked. "Oh yeah. It's almost like old times before we were ever married the first time. I mean all I have to do is try to forgive him for his mistakes. We've all made mistakes," Tiffany said taking the cup of coffee her sister handed her. "Did he spent the night over here last night?" "No," Tiffany said as she took her bagel out of the waxed paper and licked the cream cheese from her fingers. "Why not? I thought it was really steaming up for you guys after the other day," Starlene asked referring to Tiffany admitting they had become intimate once again. "I kind of put a stop to it." "What do you mean?" "I just don't feel right about him still be married to Jan and us... you know?" she said shrugging her shoulders. "Hmm, I know Skeeter isn't too happy about that." "He was very understanding. I was surprised. I told him when they are divorced then we can take it back up." "So does that mean you aren't going to be seeing him anymore?" "No. It just means that we aren't going to be doing anything intimate until they are divorced, that's all. "I don't know Tiffany... " Starlene said shrugging her shoulders, as she thought about her ex-brother-in-law's love for the ladies. "What? You think I'm not worth waiting for?" "Oh no. It's not that. It's just... I don't know," she said. "I just don't want to feel like I've broken up his marriage to Jan. It's not right." "She certainly didn't care if she broke the two of you up." "No, but I'm not Jan. I don't want to live with being that kind of woman." "I guess time will tell then. I just don't want to see you hurt Tiffany." "Don't worry about me. I'm fine. What about you and Stanley?" "I'm thinking about giving him a timetable. If we aren't married in say a couple of months then I'll move out," Starlene said. "Oh really?" "Yeah. There are just too many men out there for me to waste another year with him if he isn't going to marry me." "But don't you love him Starlene?" "Yeah. But I could love somebody else. I mean I'd get over him," she said. "Besides since you told me I could move in here with you, I've been thinking it would be a lot of fun," she said glancing around at the small apartment. "I guess," Tiffany said as the phone rang on the coffee table. "I'll bet it's Skeeter wanting to slip over for a good morning kiss," Starlene said laughing as Tiffany reached for the phone. "Hello," Tiffany said. Starlene glanced at her sister expecting her to confirm her prediction. She was shocked to hear Tiffany say "Amir I haven't heard from you in a long time." CONTINUED TOMORROW.
