Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday March 9th 2004
"Tiffany it's me", Starlene called out as she closed the door to her sister's Bleecker Street apartment.
"In here," Tiffany said as she walked from her bedroom towards the living room. "What on earth are you doing here so early in the morning?" Tiffany asked as she buttoned her blouse.
"Stanley had to go to Washington for a meeting. Some of his political BS again. I wanted to go with him but he wouldn't let me. He said I was too much of a distraction at fund raisers," she said as she took off her jacket, tossed it over the sofa and took a seat.
"So what are you doing here?" Tiffany asked as she walked to the kitchen nearby and poured her sister a cup of coffee.
"I was dying to find out what happened with you and Skeeter last night," Starlene said as she leaned back on the sofa. "Thanks," she said as Tiffany handed her a cup of coffee and took a seat beside her.
"Well... " Tiffany said smiling and looking down as if she didn't want to answer the question.
"Well, did the two of you
do it?" Starlene asked.
"Starlene!  I can't believe you ask me things like that."
"I can't believe you'd be surprised that I do.
Of course, I ask you things like that.  I mean you called me at Stanley's and told me that Skeeter had just left your apartment. That was two hours after I was here with the two of you. You guys clearly had time for some hot romance," she said raising her eyebrows.
"Oh come on," Tiffany said picking up her cup of coffee and taking a sip.
"Well, are you going to tell me or not?"
"Well, yes," Tiffany said smiling.
"Wow. I knew it!" Starlene said slapping her leg.
"So, it's not like the two of us just met. I mean he was my husband for a few years."
"But he's Jan's husband now."
"Well, they're separated and the divorce is in the works."
"Is that what he told you Tiffany?"
"Yeah. I knew it wouldn't last with her. She's so mean. I can't believe he ever married her."
"But he did."
"You know what he said Starlene?" Tiffany said leaning forward as she spoke.
"Hard to tell," Starlene said in her southern accent.
"That he never loved anyone but me. That he wouldn't have married Jan if he really thought he had a chance with me," she said shaking her head in regret.
"But Tiffany he did marry her."
"He said he was convinced that I'd never leave Amir and that he didn't have a chance with me.  He said he felt tricked into marriage by Jan. He says he thinks she wanted to marry him because she hates me
that much," Tiffany said recalling his words.
"Interesting," Starlene said thinking about the fact that Jan had called her father Stanley's house last night worried about where Skeeter was so late at night.  Stanley was on the phone with Jan when Skeeter finally came home.
"I thought you would be happy to hear this Starlene," Tiffany said clearly disappointed with her sister's reaction.
"Well, I am.  I'm just a little worried about you," Starlene said wondering if she should tell Tiffany that Skeeter went home to Jan last night.
"I hope he'll spend the night here tonight.  I think I should cook for him. I remember all of his favorite foods.  I bet that would really surprise him," Tiffany said as her eyes widened.
"You know. I think you need to get out more Tiffany," Starlene said as she leaned back on the sofa.
