Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday February 25th 2004
The doorbell rang in Jan's Upper East Side mansion.
"Get that Ilona, it's probably him," Jan called out as she put the finishing touches on her make up in her bedroom upstairs.
Ilona patted her apron down over her plump belly and ran her fingers through her curly thinning hair as she walked towards the front door of the mansion.  The doorbell rang three more times as she opened the door to see Skeeter holding a dozen red roses.
"Mr. Skeeter," Ilona said smiling as the handsome southerner walked into the living room.
"Ilona Baby, have you missed me?" he asked handing her the roses.
"Yes.  I hope you move back to here," she said in her broken English.
"We'll see. I've missed you too," he said glancing down at her heavy bosom and winking as her face reddened.
"Skeeter I'll be right there," Jan called down.
"Take your time Baby," he said watching Ilona walk towards the kitchen to put the roses in water.
"Ilona make sure Skeeter is comfortable," Jan called down.
"Ilona is taking good care of me Baby. I still remember my way around the house," he said taking a seat on the sofa and reaching for the decanter on the coffee table. He watched as Ilona came back in and placed the flowers on the mantle.
"How have you been Mr. Skeeter?" she asked turning to watch him pouring a drink into his glass.
"Oh great," he said before taking a long sip of the Bourbon.
"You move back here, or you see Miss Lola now?" she asked referring to the celebrity he'd been pictured with in the newspapers.
"Oh I see her some. I've got a few irons in the fire these days.  But we'll see how things go with Jan," he said in his slow southern accent winking at her.
"I hope you move back.  She miss you. I miss you," she said.
"We'll see if she comes through with her offer."
"Offer?" she asked.
"This place," he said waving his hands around the living room.
"Offer this place?" she asked frowning.
"That's what she implied," he said. "I'm no fool," he said as he poured himself another drink from the decanter.
"Oh! This nice offer. This be good for you, very good for you," she said shaking her head in amazement.
"We'll see if she was serious," he said as they heard the sounds of Jan's footsteps on the stairs coming towards the living room.
"Darling," Jan said walking into the living room dressed in a slinky silk negligee and high heels.
"Hey Baby," Skeeter said watching her as she walked towards the sofa.
"Ilona don't stand there staring.  Get back to work on our dinner," Jan snapped at the housekeeper.
"Yes, Miss Morgan.  Dinner ready for table now," Ilona said turning to walk towards the kitchen.
"Just keep it warm a while. Skeeter and I might have dinner in bed," she said taking a seat beside him on the sofa.  "Right darling?" she said as she put her arm around his shoulders and kissed him on the cheek.
"Aren't we rushin' it?" Skeeter asked.
"I've been waiting a long time darling.  Way too long," she said kissing him on the cheek.
"You want dinner in bed or in dining room?"  Ilona asked standing in the doorway of the living room.
"The bedroom," Skeeter said winking at the plump housekeeper as she smiled at him knowingly.
