Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday January 23rd 2004 "Well, what did Stanley say about the picture of Skeeter and Lola in the newspaper?" Tiffany asked her sister Starlene as they sat on the sofa of her Bleecker Street apartment. Starlene had dropped by to spend an hour or so while she waited for her lover Stanley to finish his business appointment and meet her later at the nearby Blue Note Jazz Club. "He said that Jan is furious over it," she said referring to Skeeter's wife and her lover Stanley's daughter. "How furious?" Tiffany asked. "Furious enough that she had Stanley contact the lawyers." "Oh really? Wow, I wonder if they'll get a divorce?" "I don't know. Stanley said that he's had the papers drawn up for Jan a couple of times now and Skeeter sweet talks Jan and she tears them up." "What on earth does he say to get her to tear them up?" "I think it's really more what he does," Starlene said raising her eyebrows. "Oh, that's vintage Skeeter," Tiffany said remembering the many lies she had caught him in and how he had romanced her. "Yeah. All he has to do is take her to bed and she's over it again. It's making Stanley so angry." "Maybe she'll get sick of him sooner or later." "Skeeter must be pretty good," Starlene said more a question than a statement. "He is and he knows it. From what the newspaper's said Lola was seeing her doorman. Maybe Skeeter just managed to be seen with her so he'd get the publicity." "No, it's more than that," Starlene said remembering how Skeeter had accidentally confessed to her that he'd had a quickie relationship with the celebrity. "You know? Did he?" "Oh I'm not sure," Starlene hedged. "You saw Skeeter?" "I ran into him one day when I was coming over here," Starlene confessed. "Well, did he Starlene?" "I promised I wouldn't tell," Starlene said shaking her head. "You're talking to me Starlene! I certainly can't tell Jan or anything. Who would believe Skeeter's ex-wife?" "Well, don't tell him that I told you, okay?" "Sure." "He says he did." "Oh wow! Do you think he really cares about this Lola woman?" "I doubt it." "Does Stanley know that Skeeter and Lola did it?" "No, Stanley doesn't know for sure. Jan asked Stanley to call her and find out but she wouldn't tell him the whole story. You do know that Stanley and Lola dated a long time ago?" Starlene asked. "Oh really. Are you worried?" "No. I was at first when I found out that Stanley had called an old girlfriend." "But you're not now?" Tiffany asked as Starlene's cell phone rang. "No," she said as she reached in her purse and pulled out the phone. "Hello" she answered. "Hi Starlene. Are you at Tiffany's honey?" Stanley asked. "Yeah, are you running late?" she asked. "No, I got to the Blue Note a little early. I thought you might want to come on over." "Oh okay. I'll come over soon. I'm talking to Tiffany now," she said. "Well, I don't want you to be angry honey..." He said hesitating to tell her the real reason he called. "What?" "Lola Rogers is here tonight." "Did you know that Lola was going to be there Stanley?" she asked her voice instantly filled with anger. "No honey. I didn't. She came with her mother Mimi Rogers. I promise I didn't know," he said as he motioned for the bartender to bring Lola and her Mother another drink. "Well at least you called me and you've been honest," Starlene said trying to calm her fears. "Of course honey. I didn't want a photographer taking my picture and you thinking something else," he said as Lola's hand slid up the leg of his trousers. "I'll be right there Stanley," Starlene said.
