Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday January 22nd 2004 "Tiffany, it's me," Starlene called out as she opened the door to her sister's apartment on Bleecker Street. "In here," Tiffany said as she turned off the TV in the bedroom and walked towards the living room. "Hi Starlene, what brings you out in the cold?" Tiffany asked as her sister locked the front door and took off her coat. "I'm meeting Stanley a little later tonight at the Blue Note Jazz Club, so I thought I'd stop by and spend some time with you," she said tossing her coat on a chair. "Good, I could use a friend," Tiffany said taking a seat on the sofa as her sister sat down in a chair nearby. "What's going on with you?" Starlene asked noticing the apartment that was usually perfectly clean was somewhat messy by Tiffany's standards. "I'm down. I was just watching that gossip show and they were talking about Amir," Tiffany said shaking her head. "What? Is there more about that strange woman he was seen with on New Year's Eve?" "No, they showed the pictures again and said that he hasn't been seen since that evening." "Well, that's good news isn't it?" "Not if they're holed up somewhere together." "Have you talked to him Tiffany?" "Yes, he called the next day and started telling me it was just the press making something of nothing." "Well?" "I got mad and hung up on him." "Oh. Did he call back?" "No. I tried calling his mansion on the island and the housekeeper said he was out of the country now." "Maybe he's back in New York. Did you try calling Manhattan Gold International?" she asked referring to Amir's celebrity spa in the city. "Of course I called there." "What did they say?" "They said he wasn't in and I could leave a message." "Did you?" "No. I don't want him to think I'm chasing him." "He'll call again," Starlene said confidently. "I hope so. But I guess I don't want him to if he's seeing that woman." "She really is pretty," Starlene said remembering the picture she saw on TV. "Don't remind me. She's probably younger than I am too," Tiffany said clearly worried. "Rich too," she added. "Oh you need to go out and find somebody else. You've had bad luck with men. I mean Amir came with a lot of baggage, that sick wife that died and all of that," Starlene said remembering the years of love and pain. "Yeah, then to be treated like this just when I thought maybe we would get married." "We're forgetting all about Brandon Douglas too," Starlene added as she remembered the wealthy theatre owner her sister had recently been involved with. "Yeah, a jerk. He was just a rich jerk. Maybe it's because these men are wealthy. Maybe that's why I'm having so much bad luck. Maybe a man that isn't so wealthy would be more inclined to commit," Tiffany said thoughtfully. "Tiffany have you forgotten Skeeter?" Starlene said referring to Tiffany's ex-husband that had recently opened a lingerie store on the ground floor of her apartment building. "You're right!" Tiffany said grinning. "He's the worst of all. Did you see that picture of him in the paper with Lola Rogers?" "Oh yes and so did Jan," Starlene said referring to Skeeter's new wife and her lover's older daughter. "What's going to happen with that? What is Stanley telling you?" Tiffany asked scooting up on the edge of the sofa eager to hear the latest. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
