Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday January 19th 2004 Starlene pulled her wool coat a little closer to her neck as the wind whipped on Bleecker Street. She stopped to look into her purse as she stood in front of her sister Tiffany's apartment building. She turned quickly when she heard Skeeter open the door to his lingerie store on the ground floor. "Hey Baby, how you doing?" Skeeter asked walking out onto the sidewalk and standing beside Starlene. "Oh hi Skeeter. I was just stopping by Tiffany's to pick up a dress that I might borrow," she said watching him light a cigarette. "That old man ain't giving you enough money to buy as many dresses as you want?" he asked referring to his Father-in-law and her lover Stanley Morgan. "Oh sure. I'm going to a church fundraiser for Stanley. He usually tells me to wear the low cut little numbers of mine. This time he said I better hide the goodies," she said laughing. "So you and the old man must be getting along pretty good if he's sending you to a fundraiser." "Well, I volunteered to do it. I was looking at one of the celebrity magazines and I saw that wives go to those things. So I begged him to let me go. I want to get photographed there. You know kind of reinvent myself over and over." "You trying to change your image?" he asked remembering her photograph in Playbody Magazine. "No, just keep everyone guessing a little. Seems you've got everybody guessing Skeeter," she said in her southern accent. She grinned as she watched him blow a smoke circle in the cold air. "You saw my picture in the New York Mirror?" he asked referring to the tabloid. "Oh yes. And Stanley saw it too," she said referring to her lover and his father-in-law. "That's Stanley's old flame ain't it?" he said referring to Lola Rogers the woman Skeeter had been photographed with. "Yeap." "What did Stanley say?" "He said he thought you went out with Lola and got photographed intentionally so that you'd get publicity. "Why the hell would I do that?" "Because of Lola's doorman and the picture of Lola and him in bed together. That doorman got the job modeling the underwear and you didn't." "That's crazy," Skeeter said wondering if his motives would be transparent to everyone. "You got to admit it does look that way a little bit," Starlene said. "Bull. I went to bed with Lola cause I wanted to," Skeeter said hotly. "So you did go to bed with her?" Starlene asked grinning. "Don't tell anybody Baby. Okay?" "Course not. Aren't you worried about losing Jan?" "No. Just because I married to her doesn't mean I'm dead." "Is Jan mad at you?" "Yeah. She's furious. I told her I was just helping Lola avoid the press when we were caught together by them." "Jan doesn't believe it?" "No." "What if she asked you for a divorce?" "If she does, she does. I've got to live my life," he said tossing the cigarette onto the sidewalk and stepping on it. "You wouldn't lose out anyway. Lola's got more money than Jan," Starlene said laughing. "Is that what Stanley said?" Skeeter asked with renewed interest in his fling with the celebrity. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
