New Yorkers are back to work, but it's different now. You have to show ID's to get past Canal Street at the barricades where Army National Guard, state police and NY City police stand guard. Check points that once would have rattled the average New Yorker's nerves are now soothing in the aftermath of the terrorist attack. Smoke still fills the air and most of the businesses are closed. Heroes work as rescue efforts continue at ground zero. People grieve and share their stories of the few hours that have burned into our memories as we watched in horror as the unthinkable happened.
Top right picture you see what is getting to be a familiar sight in New York City as the Army National Guard watches the streets.
Top left picture you see a closed subway stop downtown. You see small and large memorials all over the city as strangers show their grief for their fellow New Yorkers.
Center right picture you see smoky Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange. As you walk through the smoke filled air you hear the National Anthem being played over loudspeakers.
