Early this morning around 9 am, I heard the sound of a low flying airplane. It was so loud my immediate thought was that it was a terrorist or a plane that would land on our rooftop in Greenwich Village. Seconds later I knew the horrible truth. I photographed the morning of horror from our office fire escape and from our rooftop near Washington Square Park.
Top left you see the World Trade Center weeks before the attack.
Top right picture you see the first tower as it burned moments after the first attack.
Center right picture you see a distant shot from our rooftop as the second tower is hit. This picture was taken on our fire escape. As I stood there all alone not one person in sight I could hear voices collectively saying "Oh my God" as New Yorkers witnessed the horror of the second attack.
Bottom right picture was taken on the rooftop the moment that the first tower fell. Once again there wasn't another person around and again I heard people collectively saying "Oh My God".
