Coney Island is the southernmost part of Brooklyn and on the beach of the Atlantic Ocean. Back in the 1830's Coney Island was a fashionable resort with elegant hotels and casinos. Then 50 years later Coney Island became a popular amusement park. By 1884 the first roller coaster appeared. By 1900 Coney Island was in full swing and enjoyed it's heyday into the 40's. The decline began in the 1950's when the area lacked prosperity. Times are changing again. This is a new millennium so look out world...Coney Island is making a big come back! The recently opened Keyspan Park is home to the new baseball field and the baseball team known as the Brooklyn Cyclones.
