Astor Place is the area of the East Village named after earlier inhabitants. In the 19th Century Astor Place was the fashionable home to the Astors, Vanderbilts and Delanos.
Top right picture you see a distant shot of Astor Place. At 2 Astor Place and Broadway you will find Astor Place Hair Designs. This is a real New York experience. They have troops of barbers that give cuts, trims and shaved designs all to the beat of loud music with pictures of the clients everywhere. A cut costs around $11, and you can't make an appointment. This is a well known and very popular place.
