Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday January 2nd 2004 "Mornin' Ilona," Skeeter said walking into the kitchen of his wife's Upper East Side mansion. "Good morning Mr. Skeeter," the housekeeper said in her broken English as she turned to see the handsome southerner coming into the kitchen dressed only in his briefs. She smiled briefly and quickly turned her attention back to the cake she was baking. "You think I've lost any weight?" Skeeter asked sucking in his stomach as he watched her pour the batter into the cake pans. "I think," she said turning briefly to glance at him as her face reddened. "I'm trying. That marketing guy should be coming back into the store any day now. I want to look good when they take my picture and put it up in Times Square," he said thinking about the new opportunity on his horizon. "Miss Jan she very unhappy for this," Ilona said. "She better get over it or she'll be a divorcee," Skeeter said pouring a cup of coffee and taking a seat at the bar. "I hope not," Ilona said realizing how much she'd miss the handsome southerner if he divorced Jan. "Where is Jan this morning?" "She go upstate for meeting." "I guess that guy John O'Donnel will come by the lingerie store today," Skeeter said thinking about the marketing rep that had approached him just before the holidays. "You take this modeling job today?" Ilona asked. "Well, yeah. I told him that it sounded great to me. I mean what is there to think about?" "So when they take your picture?" "I don't know. He didn't say. He said that he'd come back after the holidays. He said it would give me time to talk to my partners, wife, whatever. There ain't nothing to talk about though. I'm doing it. Jan and I can just divorce. I can't let a big opportunity like this pass me by," he said as he took another sip of his coffee. "I hope you and Miss Jan stay together," Ilona said. "Well, she won't stop me. I've told her she could leave if she doesn't like it," he said eyeing the Crispy Cream Doughnuts on the counter. "Miss Jan leave her house?" Ilona asked shocked. "Well, of course she said no. She can buy me out if she wants me to leave," Skeeter said opening the box of doughnuts and taking a bite from one then tossing it back in the box. "Oh," Ilona said glancing at the oven to check her cake. "That today's paper?" Skeeter asked eyeing the newspaper on the other side of the bar. "Yes," she said picking up the tabloid paper and handing it to Skeeter. He quickly licked his fingers and unfolded the newspaper to the picture of a doorman on the front page. "I'd like to live in a building with a doorman next time," Skeeter said before reading the article. He quickly glanced at the headlines under the doorman's picture, "All Doors Open for Lola Rogers Park Avenue Doorman". "Who is this guy?" Skeeter asked as he reached in the box and took another bite from a doughnut. "He gets job like you Mr. Skeeter," Ilona said eyeing the handsome doorman on the cover of the newspaper. "Really," Skeeter said looking back at the newspaper and reading how the doorman had been asked to pose in his underwear for a men's underwear manufacturing company. "Well, I'll be damned. I wonder how he got an offer just like mine?" Skeeter asked frowning as he closed the top on the doughnut box. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
