Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday December 31st 2003
Tiffany pulled her nightshirt down and picked up the remote to the TV from her coffee table. She turned to her favorite gossip show and leaned back on the sofa to watch when the phone rang.
She picked up the phone off the coffee table and answered "Hello".
"Hi Tiffany, ready for New Year's?" her sister Starlene asked.
"I guess. It's just another night for me."
"Where's Amir?"
"He had to go home to his island. He said there were some problems with his spa and he rushed home," Tiffany said.
"Oh what a shame. I know you miss him."
"Yeah. But at least we're back together again," she said referring to their recent break up. "What are you and Stanley doing tonight?"
"Well, we were going to go to an island but he has problems with Jan," Starlene said referring to her older lover's daughter that is married to Tiffany's ex-husband.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, remember I told you about Skeeter possibly being offered that job with a marketing company?"
"Yes, that ridiculous story about him being paid to model boxer shorts!" Tiffany said laughing as she thought about her ex-husband.
"It's causing a lot of trouble."
"Oh how funny. Well, Jan deserves it."
"True. I hope Skeeter leaves her," Starlene said.
"Well, I don't know about that. Then he'd have her money and his freedom. It sounds like the best of both worlds for Skeeter."
"Yeah, but he'd be rid of her," Starlene said.
"I can't stand the thought of Skeeter..." Tiffany paused as she watched the TV screen.
"Well," Starlene started to say something.
"Hush! I see Amir on channel 42," Tiffany said.
Starlene quickly picked up the remote to her TV and turned to channel 42.
The TV screen was filled with a picture of Amir getting off an airplane on his island off the coast of Tonga. Then the screen showed a picture of Amir and a beautiful young woman getting into Amir's limo. The announcer began to speak as Tiffany quickly turned up the volume on her TV.
"It's reported that Amir Hada rushed back to his island home off the coast of Tonga early this week. Rumors are flying that Amir and this beautiful mystery woman are getting married. We phoned Mr. Hada's New York City publicist earlier today and he denied the reports. This trip to the island is highly suspicious though. Reliable sources have told us that after Amir's wife's death he resumed his relationship with Ms. Diamond in New York City. It's well known that he had been involved with Ms. Diamond for several years while his wife lie gravely ill in a coma. However, we can assume the relationship with the island beauty must be serious. Amir was recently spotted with the woman in several local restaurants. Most recently she was seen sunbathing topless on his private beach. Since this is New Year's Eve, we can assume a man that can have any woman he wants would choose to be with the woman he intends for his future. We'll keep you posted. Now, back to our studios in New York for the countdown of this Rockin' New Year's Eve from Times Square," the announcer said as the TV screen was filled with the Astrovision in Times Square.
"Well, I'll be," Starlene said quietly. "Did you suspect anything like this Tiffany?"
"No, but I should have," Tiffany said.
"Why?"
"Why else would he leave me here alone on New Year's Eve?"
"Getting married..." Starlene said thoughtfully regretting the words instantly when she heard her sister begin to cry.
